Shocking news emerging Thursday that young Phoenix Suns centre DeAndre Ayton – last year’s number one draft pick – is facing a 25-game suspension from the NBA for violating its Anti-Drug policy after returning a positive test for a diuretic.
The suspension will begin immediately, beginning with tomorrow’s game between the Suns and Nuggets.
Ayton will receive no pay for the suspension, although it is believed the NBA Players Association is already preparing a case to reduce or rescind the suspension on the basis that the diuretic was unintentionally ingested.
At this stage though, the earliest Ayton could return is December 17 against the LA Clippers.
More to come.
