    Vegas Golden Knights History

The Vegas Golden Knights are the second youngest franchise in the National Hockey League after the addition of the Seattle Kraken in 2021. Despite the fact they’ve only been around for about five seasons they have actually been pretty successful during their short time in the National Hockey League, as they have made the playoffs in every single season except one.

They even made a miraculous run to the Stanley Cup finals in their inaugural season as they nearly shocked the world and won it all in year number one. In five years as a member of the National Hockey League they have never had a losing season. They also have won two Pacific Division titles.

During their inaugural year in 2017-18 they finished the season with a record of 51-24-7 and won the Pacific Division. They would end up going 12-3 in the Western Conference bracket of the Stanley Cup Playoffs before losing the Finals in five games to the Washington Capitals.

In year number two they finished with a record of 43-32-7 but were defeated in the first round of the playoffs in seven games by the San Jose Sharks. In year three they ended the regular season with a record of 39-24-8 and made it all the way back to the Conference Finals before losing in five games to the Dallas Stars.

In year four they once again returned to the playoffs after finishing the shortened regular season with a record of 40-14-2 before making it to the Stanley Cup semifinals and losing in six games to the Montreal Canadiens.

Last year during the 2021-22 season they had an incredibly fast start to the season and looked on track to return to the playoffs before injuries caught up to them and they collapsed. Eventually they finished fourth in the Pacific Division and missed the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
