The Houston Rockets (13-40, 8-18 Home) will try to slow down the NBA’s top scoring team when they play host to the Sacramento Kings (29-23, 13-12 Away) on Monday. Sacramento is playing the second of a back-to-back after being blown out by the New Orleans Pelicans 136-104 at Smoothie King Center yesterday.
Malik Monk was the top scorer in the losing effort with 16 points. Keon Ellis chipped in with 10 points. The Kings are the third seed in the Western Conference.
Houston lost in blowout fashion on Saturday at Paycom Center, falling to the Oklahoma City Thunder 153-121. Josh Christopher had 20 points in the loss to lead the team. The Rockets are the 15th seed in the Western Conference.
This is the last meeting of the season between the teams. After taking both of the previous season meetings against Houston, the last of which was a 139-114 victory at Golden 1 Center on January 13, their fourth straight head-to-head victory, Sacramento will be pursuing a season sweep.
Harrison Barnes led the Kings with 27 points, while Domantas Sabonis had a triple double with 19 points, 16 assists, and 15 rebounds. Jabari Smith Jr. had 27 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks in the loss. De’Aaron Fox is averaging 24.3 points per game to lead the Kings in scoring this season.
Meanwhile, Sabonis is contributing 12.4 rebounds, second-most in the NBA, and 7.0 assists per game. Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. have supplied much of the Rockets’ offense, averaging 21.5 and 19.2 points per game, respectively. Porter Jr. also has doled out 5.6 assists per game.
Alperen Sengun has averaged 8.8 rebounds per game. The Kings rank as the highest-scoring offense in the NBA with 118.9 points per game. The Kings have come up short more often than not in recent visits to Toyota Center, losing seven of the last 10.
Meanwhile, the Kings are 3-4 when playing on consecutive nights this season and 2-4 with a rest disadvantage. The Rockets are 2-4 with a rest advantage.
Sacramento is 5-5 in the last 10 games with an average margin of -0.2 (114.4-114.6). Houston has a 3-7 record over the last 10, allowing 120.0 points per game on average while scoring only 113.1 (-6.9 margin).
