The Los Angeles Clippers (33-29, 18-15 Away) will try to slow down the league’s top shooting team when they travel to face the Denver Nuggets (42-19, 27-4 Home) on Sunday.
Los Angeles was edged out by the Sacramento Kings 176-175 in double overtime at Crypto.com Arena on Friday. Kawhi Leonard was a top performer in defeat with 44 points. The Clippers are fifth in the Western Conference.
Denver is playing on back-to-back days after losing in blowout fashion yesterday at FedExForum, falling to the Memphis Grizzlies 112-94. Nikola Jokic had 15 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists in the losing effort to lead the team.
The Nuggets are the first seed in the Western Conference, six games ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies. The teams are meeting for the last time this season.
Denver will be looking for a season sweep against Los Angeles after winning all three of their earlier meetings, the last of which was a 115-103 victory at Crypto.com Arena on January 13, their fifth straight head-to-head victory.
Jamal Murray led the Nuggets with 24 points and eight rebounds. Leonard had 24 points and eight rebounds in defeat. Paul George is averaging 23.5 points per game to lead the Clips in scoring this season. George also has dished 5.2 assists per game. Meanwhile, Ivica Zubac is grabbing 10.1 rebounds.
Jokic has supplied much of the Nuggets’ offense, averaging 24.5 points per game. Jokic has also averaged 11.6 rebounds and 10.0 assists per game, for which he ranks third and fourth in the NBA, respectively. Shooting 50.9% from the field, the Nuggets are the most accurate field goal shooting team in the league.
The Clippers have not found much success at Ball Arena in recent seasons, losing eight of the last 10 games. Los Angeles has won three in a row away from home this season. Denver is seeking a sixth consecutive home win this season.
