Atlanta Braves @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

The Atlanta Braves have officially clinched the National League East division and they will be looking to clinch the best record in the National League coming down the final stretch of the season. They will be looking to grab a victory over the Miami Marlins in the opening game of this three-game weekend series here on Friday night on the road in Miami, as Atlanta looks to build up as much momentum as possible before heading into the playoffs. Atlanta comes into the opening game of this series with a record of 96-50 through their first 146 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. 

It has been an up-and-down season for the Miami Marlins, but they will be looking to finish the season strong and make a playoff appearance this year. It starts with getting a huge victory over the Atlanta Braves in the opening game of the series as they look to keep pace with the remaining teams in the National League wildcard race. The National League wildcard race will be the tightest race in baseball and it will likely come down to the final day of the season, so Miami will need to pick up crucial victories like this one along the way. Unfortunately for the Miami Marlins, I don’t see that happening as I look for the Atlanta Braves to grab the victory here on Friday night on the road.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Baltimore Orioles – 7:05PM ET

Tampa Bay will be looking to pick up a crucial victory over the Baltimore Orioles in the second game of the series on Friday night. Tampa Bay has no other choice but to be successful over the weekend against Baltimore as this game will go a long way in determining who wins the American League East division this season. They were able to grab a one run victory in the opening game of the series on Thursday night and now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of this four game weekend series with another victory here on Friday night against Baltimore. They managed to close the gap on the Orioles in the division and they will also be looking to extend their lead in the American League wildcard race as well.

Baltimore will be looking to bounce back after their series opening loss at home to Tampa Bay on Thursday night. After only scoring four runs they will have to be a lot more productive at the plate here in this one as they look to take back the game they lost with their defeat on Thursday night. Baltimore has had a steady lead on the American League East division and if they manage to lose their second consecutive game against Tampa Bay here on Friday night, that lead will continue to get slimmer and slimmer throughout the weekend. However, I expect Baltimore to even out the series with a victory here on Friday night.

Boston Red Sox @ Toronto Blue Jays – 7:07PM ET

The Boston Red Sox’s playoff hopes will be hanging on by a thread when they head north of the border to Canada to open up a series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night. Boston comes into the first game of this three game series with a record of 74-73 through their first 147 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season after finishing up a series with their archrivals, the New York Yankees. They will be looking to bounce back in the opening game of this series against Toronto after losing the finale of their series against the New York Yankees. 

The Toronto Blue Jays come into this game sitting in second place of the American League East division and they will be looking to pick up a solid victory in the opening game of this series on Friday night against the Boston Red Sox. Toronto comes into the opening game of this series on Friday night at home with a record of 80-67 through their 147 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They will be looking to pick up a crucial victory over Boston here in this one and that is exactly what I expect to happen here on Friday night. 

Cincinnati Reds @ New York Mets – 7:10PM ET

It has been a roller coaster of a season for the Cincinnati Reds and they will be looking to pick up a crucial victory in the opening game of the series against the New York Mets on Friday night on the road in New York City. Cincinnati will be looking to keep pace in the National League wildcard race as well as keep within striking distance of the National League Central division as well. Cincinnati comes into the opening game of this series with a record of 76-72 through their first 148 games of the season and they are currently tied for the third wildcard spot in the National League at the moment. 

The New York Mets came into the season with one of the highest payrolls in all of baseball, but they have been a complete disappointment this year. Several times throughout the year they have been sitting in last place in the National League East division, and they will almost certainly miss out on the postseason, unless some type of miracle occurs over the last two weeks of the year. New York will be looking to play spoiler as well as keep their faint playoff hopes alive with a victory over the Cincinnati Reds in the opening game of this series at home on Friday night. However, I look for Cincinnati to grab the victory in this one on Friday night.

Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox – 7:40PM ET

Minnesota has been strong coming down the final stretch of the season and they are closing in on an American League Central division title because of it. As they have slowly pulled away from Cleveland over the last couple of weeks, and their magic number is down under ten coming into the second game of the series against the Chicago White Sox on Friday night on the road in the Windy City. Minnesota will be looking to grab yet another victory and take yet another step closer to clinching the American League Central division title here on Friday night, as they look to keep the momentum rolling before heading into the postseason. 

It has been a rough season for the Chicago White Sox this year and at this point in the year they will just be looking to build up momentum for next year. They were expected to compete for an American League Central division title this season, but that has not been the case and they will finish as one of the worst teams in all of baseball this year. They had a huge sale at the trade deadline which signals the beginning of a potential rebuilding era for the Chicago White Sox, and it could be a long while before they are a competitive baseball team once again. I don’t see it getting much better for them in this one as I have Minnesota picking up the victory.
