Chicago Cubs @ Cincinnati Reds – 12:10PM ET

The Chicago Cubs will be looking to bounce back here on Sunday afternoon, and the finale of their four game weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds after they dropped Saturday’s game by a single run. Chicago will be desperate to pick up a victory and force a split of this series after starting at all strong with a victory in the opening game of the doubleheader on Friday afternoon. Chicago is well within striking distance of the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central division and they cannot afford to consistently drop games like this coming into the final stretch of the season. 

The Cincinnati Reds will be looking to close out this series with their third victory over the Chicago Cubs in four games. Cincinnati had an impressive performance on Saturday afternoon as they picked up a close and competitive victory over Chicago. As they held the Chicago Cubs lineup to a single run and put up two runs of their own to pick up a much-needed victory to secure themselves at least a split of this series. Now Cincinnati will be going for their third consecutive victory over Chicago to wrap up this series and move one step closer to putting themselves in a playoff position in the National League. That is exactly what I expect as I have the Cincinnati Reds picking up the victory in this game.

Philadelphia Phillies @ Milwaukee Brewers – 1:05PM ET

Philadelphia will be looking to bounce back after their loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday and pick up a victory in the finale of their series on Sunday afternoon. They have been one of the hottest teams in all of baseball over the last couple of weeks, and I will be looking to get the train back onto the tracks with a victory to wrap up this series against Milwaukee on the road on Sunday afternoon. They have been struggling as of late despite all the recent success as they come into the finale of this series on a three game losing streak that they will be desperate to break here on Sunday afternoon to get themselves back on track.

Milwaukee will be looking to close out this series with the Philadelphia Phillies with a much-needed victory as they look to keep some distance between themselves, Chicago and Cincinnati in the National League Central division title race heading into the final month of the year. Milwaukee is getting red hot at the moment as they have picked up eight victories in their last 10 games on the season and they come to the finale of this series on a two game winning streak looking to complete the sweep over Philadelphia. That is exactly what I expect as I have Milwaukee picking up the victory here on Sunday afternoon against Philadelphia to wrap up this series with a sweep. 

Boston Red Sox @ Kansas City Royals – 2:10PM ET

The Boston Red Sox will be looking to pick up a crucial victory in the finale of this series against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium. Boston will be looking to continue their stride towards elite season playoff push and they certainly cannot afford to drop games like this against Kansas City. And from here on out for the Boston Red Sox is a must win game if they want to play in the playoffs and have an opportunity to win the World Series this season. Austin was able to bounce back in Saturday’s game after losing in Friday’s opener, and now they will be looking to cap off this series with a second consecutive victory.

There’s not much left to play for this season if you’re the Kansas City Royals as you’ve already been eliminated from both, the American League Central division title race and the American League wildcard race as well. At this point in the season, you’re simply looking to play the young guys and see how they perform as well as gain momentum before heading into the next season. They will also be looking to spoil the Boston Red Sox playoff hopes and put them one game farther away from gaining ground on the rest of the teams in the American League wildcard race ahead of them. Unfortunately for the Kansas City Royals, I don’t see that happening as I have Boston picking up the victory here in this one.

Minnesota Twins @ Texas Rangers – 2:35PM ET

The Minnesota Twins just continue to keep winning to help themselves keep distance from the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central division title race. Despite Cleveland heating things up coming down the final month of the season, Minnesota just continues to rack up victories as well which prevents Cleveland from gaining ground on them as they stay five games back, heading into the finale of this series on Sunday. This will be a massive game for Minnesota because next week they play three huge games against Cleveland at home that could go a long way in determining who wins the American League Central division. They will be looking to complete the sweep of the Texas Rangers with a victory here on Sunday. 

The Texas Rangers have been struggling heavily as of late, and they have played their way right out of the top spot in the American League West division as well. If they do not get things back together soon, they could potentially play their way out of the top three in the American League wildcard race before the season comes to an end. They have lost the first two games of this series, and they will be desperate to pick up a victory in the series finale to prevent being swept by Minnesota as well as get back on their feet before heading into the first full week of September. Thankfully for the Texas Rangers, I see them picking up the victory here on Sunday afternoon at home to wrap up the series and salvaging themselves some momentum in the process.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Cleveland Guardians – 4:10PM ET

The Tampa Bay Rays will be looking to bounce back after losing two consecutive games to Cleveland to open up this series. They nearly had the job done before they ended up losing an extra innings after giving up a run in the bottom of the ninth and then another couple of runs in the bottom of the 11th to help Cleveland pick up the victory. Now Tampa Bay will need to bounce back to avoid being swept and falling even farther behind the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East division title race, heading into the first week of September. Tampa Bay has been hurting without both Franco and McClanahan taking the field for them over the last several weeks but I will need to find a way to pick up a victory in this game to salvage some momentum and avoid the three game sleep as well. 

Cleveland has been getting hot coming into the final month of the season but the problem is they haven’t gained much ground on Minnesota, because Minnesota continues to pick up victories. They head to Minnesota for three games following this game against Tampa Bay and they will be looking to finish the job against Tampa Bay here on Sunday afternoon and complete the three game sweep to keep themselves within striking distance of the Twins heading into Minnesota for the week. With a victory over Tampa Bay here on Sunday afternoon it would give the guardians so much momentum heading into the week and that is exactly what I expected of Cleveland as I have them getting the win here in this one.
