St. Mary’s vs. Gonzaga
The No. 1 ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs take on the St. Mary’s Gaels in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference tournament. Gonzaga is looking to keep alive an undefeated season, going 24-0, including 15-0 in the WCC.
They crushed St. Mary’s by 22 the last time these teams met back on February 18. The January 16 match ended in a decisive Bulldogs victory as well, 73-59. The Bulldogs have won 28 straight games dating back to last season.
Gonzaga has proven themselves to be one of the top teams in the country beyond their record. They are first in field-goal percentage at 55.3% and are shooting 36.1% from three-point range, 65th overall. They are the third highest scoring team in the country and are 64th in rebounding at 37.8 per game.
The two headed monsters of Corey Kispert and Drew Timme have been exceptional all season long. Kispert leads the team at 19.5 ppg and is averaging 4.9 rebounds per contest.
Timme is the leading rebounder at 7.1 per contest and is second in scoring at 18.9 points per game. Jalen Suggs (13.9) and Joel Avayi (11.3) are both averaging in double digits. Aayi is second on the team in rebounding at 6.8 per game.
Kispert is shooting 55.6% from the field and 46.3% from three-point range. Plus, he is an 88.9% free-throw shooter. Timme has been a beast from the floor, hitting on 65.1% of the shots, but has not been very good at the free-throw line, connecting on 69.5% of his attempts. Gonzaga is 5-1 ATS in their last six games in a neutral site.

St. Mary’s is 4-6 in the WCC and 14-8 overall. The Gaels defeated Loyola Marymount to close out the season, 52-47. They are winners of three of their last four games, but are 1-5 ATS in the last six.
The Gaels are not a very good shooting team. They are averaging 42.3% from the field and 30.1% from three-point range, 28th from the bottom. The team is averaging 34.5 rebounds per contest. St. Mary’s has lost five straight games to the Bulldogs.
The Gaels are led by Logan Johnson, averaging 13.4 points per game. Tommy Kuhse is one of two other players averaging in double digits, recording 12.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Mathias Tass is third in scoring at 10.9 ppg and he is second in rebounding at 5.3 per contest. Tass also leads the team in blocked shots with 17.
