The Washington Huskies (13-10, 5-7 Pac-12) will try to break down one of the nation’s top scoring defenses when they are on the road to face the No. 9 UCLA Bruins (17-4, 8-2 Pac-12) on Thursday.Washington was dominated by the Arizona Wildcats 95-72 at Alaska Airlines Arena on Saturday.
Keion Brooks Jr. was the standout player in defeat with 25 points. The Huskies dropped to eighth in the Pac-12 Conference. UCLA came up short on Thursday at Galen Center, falling to the USC Trojans 77-64. Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 15 points and eight rebounds in defeat, leading the team. The Bruins are first in the Pac-12 Conference.
This is the last meeting of the season between the teams. After winning the only previous season game against Washington 74-49 at Alaska Airlines Arena on January 1, their seventh straight head-to-head victory, UCLA will be pursuing a season sweep. Adem Bona led the Bruins with 18 points, while Tyger Campbell contributed 15 points and 11 assists.
Braxton Meah had 20 points and three blocks in the losing effort. The Huskies have been led this season by Brooks Jr., who is averaging 17.1 points per game. Brooks Jr. also has grabbed 6.8 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Keyon Menifield is dishing 2.7 assists.
Jaquez Jr. (16.0 ppg) and Campbell (13.8) have supplied much of the Bruins’ offense. Jaquez Jr. also has collected 7.2 rebounds per game, while Campbell has distributed 4.7 assists per game.
