The No. 19 Xavier Musketeers (21-8, 13-5 Big East) are on the road to face the No. 20 Providence Friars (21-8, 13-5 Big East) Wednesday in what should be a high-scoring game. Xavier outplayed the Seton Hall Pirates 82-60 at Prudential Center on Friday. Souley Boum led the way with 23 points.
The Musketeers fell to third in the Big East Conference. Providence won in impressive fashion on Sunday at Capital One Arena, beating the Georgetown Hoyas 88-68. Ed Croswell had 25 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, and three blocks to lead the team. The Friars remain second in the Big East Conference.
The teams are meeting for the last time this season. After winning the only previous season matchup against Providence 85-83 in overtime at Cintas Center on February 1, Xavier will be pursuing a season sweep. Jack Nunge led the Musketeers with 23 points and 14 rebounds.
Noah Locke had 22 points in the loss. The Musketeers have been led this season by Boum (16.5 ppg), Nunge (14.3), and Colby Jones (14.2). Nunge also has grabbed 7.9 rebounds per game, while Boum has dished 4.6 assists per game.
