The North Carolina Tar Heels (5-1) will try to overcome one of the country’s top shooting defenses when they travel to face the Alabama Crimson Tide (5-1) on Sunday. North Carolina dropped their last game against the Iowa State Cyclones 70-65 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Friday.
With 15 points, RJ Davis was the leading scorer in the loss. Armando Bacot chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds. Alabama dropped their last game on Friday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, falling to the UConn Huskies 82-67. Brandon Miller had 18 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort to lead the team.
The Tar Heels got the win in the last meeting between the teams 76-67 at Imperial Arena at Atlantis Resort in November 2019. Garrison Brooks led the Tar Heels with 20 points, while Bacot played a key role with 12 points and 15 rebounds. John Petty Jr. had 23 points in the losing effort. Caleb Love (17.7 ppg), Bacot (16.2), and Davis (15.2) have led the Tar Heels in scoring this season.
Bacot also has grabbed 11.5 rebounds per game, ninth-most in the NCAA, while Davis has dished 3.3 assists per game. Miller has supplied much of the Crimson Tide’s offense, averaging 20.5 points per game. Miller also has posted 9.2 rebounds per game.
Mark Sears has tallied 3.3 assists per game. The Crimson Tide rank as one of the country’s stingiest FG% defenses, holding the opposition to a seventh-lowest rate of 34.0%.
