The No. 12 Kansas State Wildcats (19-6, 7-5 Big 12) will try to slow down one of the top shooting teams in the Big 12 Conference when they head to face the Oklahoma Sooners (12-13, 2-10 Big 12) on Tuesday.
Kansas State dropped their last game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders 71-63 at United Supermarkets Arena on Saturday, their fourth loss in a row away from home. Markquis Nowell was the top scorer in the loss with 18 points. The Wildcats are fourth in the Big 12 Conference.
Oklahoma lost their fourth in a row in blowout fashion on Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center, falling to the Kansas Jayhawks 78-55. Jalen Hill had 14 points in the losing effort, carrying the team. The Sooners slipped to 10th in the Big 12 Conference.
It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. Oklahoma won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 78-71 triumph at Fred Bramlage Coliseum in March 2022. Umoja Gibson led the Sooners with 29 points.
Mark Smith had 22 points in the losing effort. Keyontae Johnson and Nowell, averaging 17.6 and 16.9 points per game, respectively, have led the Wildcats in scoring this season. Johnson also has grabbed 7.6 rebounds per game, while Nowell has dished 7.6 assists per game, third-most in the nation.
Grant Sherfield has powered the Sooners on offense, averaging 16.5 points per game. Sherfield also has recorded 3.4 assists per game. Tanner Groves has collected 6.9 rebounds per game.The Sooners are one of the league’s most accurate field goal shooting teams, ranking second at 46.8%.
