The No. 19 Baylor Bears (10-3, 0-1 Big 12) host the Kansas State Wildcats (13-1, 2-0 Big 12), who will be looking to prolong their winning streak, on Saturday. Kansas State beat the Texas Longhorns 116-103 at Moody Center on Tuesday, their seventh win in a row.
Markquis Nowell was the standout player with 36 points and nine assists. The Wildcats remain second in the Big 12 Conference. Baylor came up short on Saturday at James H. Hilton Coliseum, falling to the Iowa State Cyclones 77-62. Adam Flagler had 20 points in the loss, leading the team.
The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Baylor won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 75-60 triumph at Fred Bramlage Coliseum in February 2022, their seventh straight head-to-head victory.
Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua led the Bears with 21 points. Nijel Pack had 31 points in defeat. The Wildcats have been led this season by Keyontae Johnson and Nowell, who are averaging 18.4 and 15.9 points per game, respectively.
Johnson also has grabbed 6.9 rebounds per game, while Nowell has dished 8.5 assists per game, second-most in the country. Keyonte George and Flagler have been the primary providers of the Bears’ offense, averaging 15.6 and 13.9 points per game, respectively. Flagler also has distributed 4.2 assists per game.
Flo Thamba has averaged 5.2 rebounds per game.The Wildcats have come up short in recent games at Ferrell Center, losing six of the last 10.
Kansas State is 9-1 in the last 10 games with an average margin of +11.1 (79.7-68.6). Baylor has gone 7-3 over the last 10, scoring 73.2 points per game on average while holding opponents to 67.7 (+5.5 margin).
