The Northeastern Huskies (8-10, 4-3 CAA) will try to slow down the top scoring team in the Colonial Athletic Conference when they welcome the No. 18 Charleston Cougars (20-1, 8-0 CAA) on Saturday. Charleston defeated the Monmouth Hawks 69-55 at OceanFirst Bank Center on Thursday, their 19th win in a row.
Reyne Smith was a top performer with 27 points. The Cougars are first in the Colonial Athletic Conference. Northeastern triumphed on Thursday at Island Federal Credit Union Arena, beating the Stony Brook Seawolves 79-66.
Masai Troutman had 20 points and seven rebounds to lead the team. The Huskies are sixth in the Colonial Athletic Conference. This marks the only meeting of the season between the teams. Charleston won both matchups between the teams last season, the last of which was an 83-72 triumph at Matthews Arena in February 2022.
Dimitrius Underwood led the Cougars with 19 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Nikola Djogo had 27 points and seven rebounds in defeat.
Dalton Bolon is averaging 13.8 points per game to lead the Cougars in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Ante Brzovic is grabbing 5.1 rebounds per game, and Ryan Larson is dishing 4.2 assists. Jahmyl Telfort (16.2 ppg) has powered the Huskies’ offense.
Alexander Nwagha is pulling down 5.1 rebounds per game, and Chris Doherty is tallying 2.1 assists. With 79.7 points per game, the Cougars are the most explosive offense in the conference.
