The Purdue Boilermakers (4-0) will try to slow down one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams when they travel to face the Gonzaga Bulldogs (4-1) on Friday. Purdue defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers 80-68 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum yesterday, their fourth win in a row.
Zach Edey was a top performer with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Gonzaga won in dominant fashion yesterday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, beating the Portland State Vikings 102-78. Malachi Smith had 23 points to lead the team.
Edey is averaging 21.5 points per game to lead the Boilermakers in scoring early this season. Edey also has grabbed 13.3 rebounds per game, second-most in the nation. Meanwhile, Ethan Morton is dishing 5.3 assists.
Drew Timme has been the primary provider of the Bulldogs’ offense, averaging 20.4 points per game. Julian Strawther is averaging 8.0 rebounds per game, and Nolan Hickman is recording 2.8 assists. The Bulldogs rank as one of the top scoring offenses in the nation, 18th-best with 86.4 points per game.
