The Maryland Terrapins (14-7, 5-5 Big 10) will try to slow down one of the nation’s top shooting teams when they play host to the No. 21 Indiana Hoosiers (15-6, 6-4 Big 10) on Tuesday.
Indiana defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 86-70 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday, their fifth win in a row. Jalen Hood-Schifino had a standout performance with 24 points.
The Hoosiers are fourth in the Big Ten Conference. Maryland won their sixth straight home game in dominating fashion on Saturday at Xfinity Center, beating the Nebraska Cornhuskers 82-63. Jahmir Young had 18 points, seven assists, and six steals, leading the team. The Terrapins dropped to 10th in the Big Ten Conference.
The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Indiana won both matchups between the teams last season, the last of which was a 74-64 triumph at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in February 2022, their third straight head-to-head victory.
Xavier Johnson led the Hoosiers with 24 points and six assists. Fatts Russell had 23 points in the loss. The Hoosiers have been led this season by Trayce Jackson-Davis, who is averaging 17.7 points per game. Jackson-Davis also has grabbed 9.7 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Hood-Schifino is dishing 3.7 assists.
Young has been the primary provider of the Terrapins’ offense, averaging 16.0 points per game. Young also has doled out 3.3 assists per game. Donta Scott has collected 6.3 rebounds per game. The Hoosiers rank as one of the nation’s most accurate teams from the field, fourth-best at 50.3%.
