The Iowa Hawkeyes (8-6, 0-3 Big 10), one of the nation’s top scoring teams, welcome the No. 15 Indiana Hoosiers (10-3, 1-1 Big 10) on Thursday. Indiana topped the Kennesaw State Owls 69-55 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on December 23.
With 19 points, Tamar Bates was the top scorer. Jalen Hood-Schifino chipped in with 18 points. Iowa lost their third in a row on Sunday at Bryce Jordan Center, falling to the Penn State Nittany Lions 83-79. Kris Murray had 32 points and nine rebounds in defeat, carrying the team. The Hawkeyes are 12th in the Big Ten Conference.
This marks the only meeting of the season between the teams. They last met in the Big Ten Tourney semifinals when the Hawkeyes knocked out the Hoosiers with an 80-77 victory at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in March 2022. Iowa took the only regular season game between the teams last season 80-77 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in March 2022.
Keegan Murray led the Hawkeyes with 32 points and nine rebounds. Trayce Jackson-Davis had 31 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort.
Jackson-Davis is averaging 13.7 points per game to lead the Hoosiers in scoring this season. Jackson-Davis also has grabbed 6.8 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Xavier Johnson is dishing 4.5 assists.
Murray (15.7 ppg) and Filip Rebraca (14.1) have supplied much of the Hawkeyes’ offense. Rebraca also has posted 8.4 rebounds per game. Tony Perkins has recorded 2.9 assists per game.With 81.1 points per game, the Hawkeyes are one of the most explosive offenses in the country (26th).
