The No. 1 Houston Cougars (8-0), the country’s top scoring defense, welcome the North Florida Ospreys (2-5) on Tuesday. North Florida was beaten by the High Point Panthers 93-88 at Qubein Center on Saturday, their fifth straight loss away from home.
With 22 points, Carter Hendricksen was the leading scorer in defeat. Jadyn Parker was another standout performer with 14 points. Houston won their eighth in a row on Saturday at Dickies Arena, beating the Saint Mary’s Gaels 53-48.
J’Wan Roberts had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the team. Jarius Hicklen and Hendricksen, averaging 14.7 and 14.6 points per game, respectively, have led the Ospreys in scoring this season. Hendricksen also has grabbed 6.7 rebounds per game, while Hicklen has dished 3.4 assists per game.
Marcus Sasser’s 17.5 points per game have powered the Cougars on offense. Roberts is averaging 7.0 rebounds per game, and Jamal Shead is doling out 5.8 assists. The Cougars rank as the best scoring defense in the NCAA with 48.0 points per game allowed.
