The Fresno State Bulldogs (5-8, 1-1 MWC) will try to slow down one of the country’s top scoring teams when they welcome the No. 21 New Mexico Lobos (14-0, 2-0 MWC) on Tuesday. New Mexico narrowly defeated the Wyoming Cowboys 76-75 at Arena-Auditorium on Saturday, their 14th win in a row.

With 20 points, Jamal Mashburn Jr. was the leading scorer. Jaelen House added 16 points, five steals, and three blocks. The Lobos remain second in the Mountain West Conference. Fresno State fell short on Saturday at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, falling to the Utah State Aggies 67-54. Jemarl Baker had 20 points in the losing effort to lead the team. The Bulldogs are sixth in the Mountain West Conference.

The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Fresno State won both games between the teams last season, the last of which was a 71-68 triumph at Save Mart Center in February 2022, their sixth straight head-to-head victory. Orlando Robinson led the Bulldogs with 28 points and 10 rebounds.

Mashburn Jr. had 27 points in the losing effort. The Lobos have been led this season by Mashburn Jr. (17.1 ppg), House (17.1), and Morris Udeze (15.7). House also has dished 5.3 assists per game. Meanwhile, Josiah Allick is grabbing 8.2 rebounds per game.

Baker and Isaih Moore have supplied much of the Bulldogs’ offense, averaging 11.8 and 11.6 points per game, respectively. Moore also has posted 7.8 rebounds per game. Isaiah Hill has doled out 2.4 assists per game.The Lobos are averaging 84.1 points per game, ranking as one of the most explosive offenses in the nation (10th).

The Lobos have not found much success at Save Mart Center in recent seasons, losing eight of the last 10 games.In the last 10 games, New Mexico is 10-0 with an average margin of +16.8 (84.6-67.8). Fresno State has gone 4-6 over the last 10, allowing 61.5 points per game on average while scoring only 60.6 (-0.9 margin).
