The Jackson State Tigers (1-10) will try to slow down one of the country’s top scoring teams when they head to face the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (9-2) on Tuesday.
Jackson State was dominated by the Texas Tech Red Raiders 102-52 at Delmar Fieldhouse on Saturday, their fourth consecutive loss.
Keionte Cornelius was the scoring leader in the losing effort with 12 points. Alabama lost on Saturday at Legacy Arena, falling to the Gonzaga Bulldogs 100-90. Brandon Miller had 36 points in defeat to lead the team.
The Crimson Tide got the win in the last meeting between the teams 86-69 at Coleman Coliseum in November 2009. The Tigers have been led this season by Ken Evans Jr. and Trace Young, who are averaging 11.2 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. Evans Jr. also has dished 3.6 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Romelle Mansel is grabbing 5.7 rebounds per game. Miller (20.1 ppg) has been the primary provider of the Crimson Tide’s offense. Noah Clowney is averaging 8.8 rebounds per game, and Jaden Bradley is doling out 3.3 assists.
The Crimson Tide are one of the highest-scoring offenses in the nation, ranking 16th with 83.6 points per game. In the last 10 games, Jackson State is 1-9 with an average margin of -17.4 (67.0-84.4).
