UFC Best Bets for UFC 269
Fri 10th December 2021

The much anticipated UFC 269 is here and our UFC Best Bets have all of the coverage you need before getting in on the action this weekend.

We are looking at an absolutely stacked card for UFC 269, on December 11th. There will be two title fights and a Flyweight fight that will likely determine the number 1 contender for the UFC Flyweight Championship. Read on below to find out UFC Best Bets for this weekend’s UFC 269!

Kai Kara France vs Cody Garbrandt (Flyweight)

This is a flyweight bout that could easily end up being fight of the night, or performance of the night for either fighter. Both fighters are coming off losses in their last appearances in the octagon. The tale of the tape is nearly similar between the two fighters as well.  One of the most dominant and fastest-rising fighters in the history of the UFC is moving down to the Flyweight division. A former UFC bantamweight champion Cody “no love” Garbrandt is ready to make his mark in the flyweight division and win his first fight and quickly try and set up a championship match.

Garbrandt holds a record of 12-4 in his career as he prepares for his first-ever fight in the Flyweight division against 22-9 Kai Kara-France. France holds a 4-inch reach advantage while Garbrandt holds a 4-inch height advantage prior to this one. Cody will be looking to become one of the very few guys to hold a UFC title in two weight divisions, while France will be looking to welcome Garbrandt to 125 with a knockout loss. Garbrandt has lost four of his last five fights while France has won five of his seven UFC fights. This should be a good fight all around and I look for Cody “No Love” Garbrandt to pick up the win by knockout, making his mark early on in the 126-pound weight class.

UFC Best Bet: Cody Garbrandt (-148)
Method Of Victory: By Knockout (+190)

Amanda Nunes [C] vs Julianna Pena

Two of the most dominant women’s fighters in the history of Mixed Martial Arts will come face to face as Amanda Nunes puts her Women’s Bantamweight Championship on the line against Julianna Pena. Both women are virtually similar on the tale of the tape, the two major differences are the height advantage for the champion and the experience advantage for Nunes as well. Nunes holds an overall record of 21-4, while Pena is 11-4 in her professional career. Both fighters are coming off victories in their latest fights and both also hold a reach of 69 inches and weigh in at 135 pounds.

Another major outlier is the method of victory for both fighters. Nunes has primarily won by knockout throughout her career, while Pena has a majority of submission victories. Pena is also more likely to go the distance. Nunes lands nearly double the significant strikes per minute that Pena does. They are virtually even when it comes to grappling, although Nunes has the better defense. This will be Nunes’s 8th title defense between the Featherweight and Bantamweight divisions as she is still currently the titleholder at both weights. As for the result of this fight, I have Amanda “The Lioness” Nunes coming out with a dominating knockout victory.

UFC Best Bet: Amanda Nunes (-1050)
Method Of Victory: By Knockout (-330)

Charles Oliveira [C] vs Dustin Poirier (Lightweight Title)

The main event of the evening is a lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier. Oliveira is the current champion, while Poirier is the current interim light heavyweight champion of the world. Dustin Poirier is currently 28-6 and coming off of two straight victories against one of the most decorated Mixed Martial Artists in the history of the sport, Connor McGregor. His last title fight was a loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, where he lost by a rear-naked choke back on September 7th, 2019. It has been 27 months since that last fight and “The Diamond” as he’s known will be looking for redemption in this one. He has won 3 fights since that loss to Khabib and is coming into this one on a bit of a hot streak.

Charles Oliveira will be making his first title defense in this one, after winning the vacant championship with a knockout of Michael Chandler at UFC 262 back in May of this year. He will hold a one-inch height advantage and a slight reach advantage over Dustin Poirier in this fight. He has won his last nine fights, his last loss came in December of 2017, which was a full four years ago. He owns the UFC record for most submission victories with 14. He also holds the UFC record for most stoppages with 17. As for the result of this fight, however, I have Dustin Poirier winning by knockout and becoming the UFC Light Heavyweight  Champion of the world.

UFC Best Bet: Dustin Poirier (-170)
Method Of Victory: Knockout (+120)
