UFC Best Bets For UFC 291
Fri 28th July 2023

Read on below to find out UFC Best Bets for this weekend’s UFC 291!

Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje – Lightweight

Dustin Poirier comes into this fight with 29 victories in 37 career professional fights. He is currently ranked second in the lightweight fighter rankings and with a victory in this fight, he could secure himself a shot at the lightweight championship somewhere down the line. He is ranked just outside the top 10 at number 13 in the men’s pound for pound rankings as well. He has already picked up victories over some of the greatest UFC fighters in history, and he will be looking to pick up his second victory against Justin Gaethje, in this highly anticipated rematch. He is coming off of a submission victory over Michael Chandler in his last fight and he has picked up a victory in four out of his last five fights as well.

Justin Gaethje comes into this fight with one thing on his mind and that is avenging his loss to Dustin Poirier a couple of years ago. He has established himself as one of the best fighters in the lightweight division as he comes into this fight, ranked third in the Lightweight rankings. He will also put himself in line for a UFC title shot if he grabs a victory over Dustin Poirier here on Saturday night. He has picked up 24 victories in 28 career professional fights and the majority of those victories have come by knockout throughout his fantastic career. He has picked up victories in two out of his last three fights but I don’t see him getting a win here on Saturday as I have Dustin Poirier getting the victory by decision.

Jan Blachowicz vs Alex Pereira – Light Heavyweight

Jan Blachowicz comes into this fight looking to pick up a statement victory against Alex Pereira here on Saturday night and further establish himself as a dominant force in the light heavyweight division. He is already a former light heavyweight champion, and in his last fight he had the opportunity to win the belt back before the match finished in a split decision draw. He is currently ranked third in the UFC light heavyweight rankings in a victory in this fight against Alex Pereira could put him in line for a light heavyweight championship opportunity down the line. He has picked up 29 victories in 39 career professional fights as he is a veteran and brings a ton of experience into this fight against Alex Pereira.

Alex Pereira has risen up the ranks in the light heavyweight division and he is on the verge of getting a title shot if he can get another victory here on Saturday night. He is one of the fastest rising stars in the UFC, and he has the potential to become one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time as long as he remains healthy and continues to rack up victories throughout his career. He is still new to the world of MMA as he has only had nine career professional fights pre-has picked up seven victories in that time span. With another victory here on Sunday, it would only further establish the fact that he is here to stay, and he would put the rest of the lightweight division on notice. That is exactly what I expect as I look for Alex Pereira to grab a decision victory here on Saturday night at UFC 291.

SportsTips’ UFC Pick:

Pereira (-110) By DEC (+650)

Tony Ferguson vs Bobby Green – Lightweight

Tony Ferguson is perhaps one of the most underrated UFC fighters ever, and he comes into this fight as a major underdog, who has real potential to grab a victory here at UFC 291 on Saturday. In 33 career professional fights he has picked up 25 victories and he will be looking to grab another victory here over Bobby Green on Saturday as he looks to re-establish himself as a championship contender in the lightweight division. Things haven’t been going his way as of late as he has lost his last five fights against some formidable opponent, and he will be looking to bounce back here on Saturday with a much-needed win as his UFC career could very well be on the line.

Bobby Green comes into this fight looking to add to the recent misery of Tony Ferguson, and extend his losing streak by another fight. He has plenty of experience coming into this fight as he has 44 career professional fights and he has 29 victories in that span as well. He has proven that he can go the distance plenty of times as he has double digit victories by decision and has also racked up double digit victories by knockout as well. His last fight ended in a no contest after an accidental headbutt left his opponent unconscious. Prior to that he was on a two fight losing streak that he will still be looking to break. However, I don’t see that happening as I think it will be Tony Ferguson that gets back in the win column here on Saturday night.

SportsTips’ UFC Pick:

Ferguson (+280) By DEC (+650)
