Elena Rybakina (17) vs Ons Jabeur (3)

Elena Rybakina and Ons Jabeur will face off in the most important match of their lives, when they battle to see who will be crowned Wimbledon champion. So far at this Grand Slam, Rybakina has only dropped one set, which came against Australian Tomljanović in the Quarterfinals. Jabeur has dropped two sets on her way to the Finals at Wimbledon, one set in the Quarterfinals, and another in the Semifinals.

Ons Jabeur is going into the Finals as the favorite to win her first career Grand Slam. World no. 3 had to play the decisive set in the last two matches but won them both confidently by 6-1. Jabeur is coming off a 2-1 win in the Semifinals against Tatjana Maria and previously defeated Marie Bouzkova in the Quarterfinals after losing the first set. Previously, the Tunisian went past Elise Mertens, Diane Parry, Katarzyna Kawa and Mirjam Bjorklund. Jabeur is 36-9 for the season including a perfect 11-0 on grass. She has won two of three matches against Rybakina with the last one being last year in Chicago.

Elena Rybakina is also in her first Grand Slam Final and will have a real chance to win her first major at the age of 23. She is currently ranked no. 23 on the WTA list and has a 27-12 record including 7-2 on grass. Rybakina is coming off a 6-3, 6-3 win in the Semifinals against former Wimbledon champion Simona Halep. Previously, the Kazakh defeated Ajla Tomljanovic, Petra Martic, Qinwen Zheng, Biana Andreescu and Coco Vandeweghe.

Very few would have called this Final and upon its conclusion we will have a maiden Grand Slam winner. Elena Rybakina and Ons Jabeur both bring contrasting styles into this matchup and it should be a fascinating watch. Rybakina arguably produced the match of her life, breezing past Simona Halep in the Semifinals. Rybakina has a fantastic serve and is arguably one of the biggest hitters on the WTA Tour. It was Rybakina’s serve that was the dominant force in her matchup against Halep. Only broken once, her serve put pressure on Halep and she was able to break the Romanian three times. Her serve will need to be at its very best if she is to cause another upset against Ons Jabeur.

Following the early exits of both Iga Swiatek and Anett Kontaveit, Ons Jabeur has been the highest ranked seed since the third round. Jabeur was instilled as the heavy favorite for the title and has handled the pressure with aplomb. Through the first four rounds the Tunisian, who is looking to become the first Grand Slam Champion from North Africa, didn’t lose a set, but in the last two rounds has been pushed to three sets. Jabeur has played her best tennis when it has come down to these final set showdowns and she will take a lot of confidence into the Final. The pair have played three times and Jabeur has won the last two contests. Her variety on the grass courts should see the Tunisian make history but this is a match that really could go either way.

Jack’s Wimbledon Pick:

Set Betting – Jabeur 2-1 (+320)
