Wed 30th November 2022

Millions around the world will be glued to their TV screens when the action heats up at the World Cup. Each team now only has one more game to play in the Group Stage. So, who can dominate in their final game, to ensure they book a spot in the Round of 16? The action so far has been gripping, and we are certain to be in store for some more excitement today!

There is so much action to be had over the Group Stage, as 32 teams fight for the chance to make it to the Round of 16. There are eight groups in total with four teams in each group, and only the top two will make it through to the next round. Which teams will put their best foot forward and make it through to the next round?

Look below to find our free soccer picks for all the games on today’s FIFA World Cup schedule!

Tunisia vs France – 10AM ET

Tunisia, who are currently sitting in last place in Group D, will face off against France, who are currently running away with the group as they have six points. An unlikely win by Tunisia means they still have a chance to progress to the Round of 16, but they would need other results to go their way. France have already successfully made it through to the next round.

Tony Battalio

Tunisia comes into this game having to get the win to advance into the Round of 16 but that seems very unlikely as they are going up against the defending World Cup champions. It would take a miracle victory at this point for them to advance into the knockout stages of the World Cup. They have never made it out of the Group Stage in all six of their World Cup appearances, including this year’s 2022 edition.

The defending World Cup champions should have very little problems in this game against Tunisian on Wednesday morning. I don’t expect this one to be close at all as I look for France to blow this open early and breeze through to the next round after a perfect Group Stage record of 3-0-0. They will likely face off with Saudi Arabia in the next round.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

France (-256)

With the loss against the complete underdog, Australia, Tunisia’s chances of getting into the Round of 16 are pretty slim. France is the reigning World Cup champion, and getting a positive result against them will be difficult. Depending on the outcome in the match between Australia and Denmark, Tunisia still has a chance to pull through. However, only a win against mighty France gives them any hope. Goals will be extremely important as well, which means Tunisia might have to win this match by three or four to proceed forward in the competition.

France has already qualified for the Round of 16. Their manager, who has won the World Cup both as a player and as a manager, Didier Deschamps, can afford to make some changes and give some minutes to the whole squad. France probably has the most impressive squad depth in the world, and the players who will get the chance to play will be trying to prove their worth and keep their place in the team for the next rounds of the competition. I expect Tunisia to start high on adrenaline and emotions, and try to attack. France will push back, and there will be a lot of goals. For the match to end up with more than 2.5 goals seems logical.

Aleksandar’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Over Goals – 2.5 (-130)

Tunisia played pretty well in the tournament but won only one point and is now ahead of an almost impossible mission. The African team needs to win against the defending champions and hope that the outcome of the Australia versus Denmark game will go in their favor. This seems like too much to really happen and all the Tunisians can do is to prepare for their game against France. Tunisia didn’t score any goals in the opening two games and they will need to do at least that against France. They will have no other option but to attack from kick-off which is something that they do not do since they are a defensively oriented team.

France’s manager Didier Deschamps will probably rest some of his top players which will make France vulnerable to a certain point. This doesn’t mean that France will not try hard to win this game, but the fact is that they will keep the top of the standings in Group D even if they lose against Tunisia. Knowing that, Tunisia will manage to finally score their first goal in Qatar and France will definitely not allow them to lose, which leads us to place a bet that both teams will score.

Marko’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Both Teams Score (+110)

Australia vs Denmark – 10AM ET

Australia are certainly in a much better position than many thought they would be in right now, as they only need a draw with Denmark to more than likely move through to the Round of 16. For Denmark, their results haven’t been up to par, with a draw and a loss, which means they have to win this game to stand any chance of moving to the knockout stage.

Tony Battalio

The Australians grabbed a huge win over Tunisia to put themselves in a great position to advance out of this Group Stage round with a win in this game as well. Even as much as a draw would put them through to the Round of 16 over Denmark as well. This is a team that is making their sixth total World Cup appearance and they haven’t been to the Round of 16 in 16 years, they have a huge opportunity to break that streak in this one.

Denmark needs to pull out a win in this one to get themselves through to the knockout stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. They are coming off of a strong showing at the 2020 Euros and still have a ton of potential, and are still a real serious dark horse contender to make a run. They will be looking to make their second straight appearance in the Round of 16 with the win in this game. However, I don’t see it happening, as I have Australia and Denmark ending in a draw.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Draw (+310)

With a surprising win against Tunisia, Australia currently stands in 2nd place in the group with 3 points. The Australians came into this World Cup with a long list of injuries and low expectations. However, they held on strong against Tunisia, and now they have a real shot at getting into the Round of 16. A win or a draw sends them through, and it’s all in their hands. Can they repeat the same performance from the last match? Will they have the energy to fight for every ball in the 90 minutes? Will they keep their formation tight and defense disciplined? I don’t think so, but we will see.

At the start of the World Cup, Denmark was considered one of the dark horses to win the competition. A mediocre performance against Tunisia and a close loss against France have earned them only one point so far in the Group Stage. However, Denmark remains in control of its destiny. With a win against Australia, they cement the second place in the group and move into the Round of 16. I find this match pretty simple to predict. Denmark is by far the better team and should win this matchup.

Denmark (-204)

Denmark came into the tournament as a respected European team that no one could beat easily. They were, and to a certain point still are, the favorite to advance from Group D but there is a big task in front of them. As mentioned above, the only option for Denmark to advance is to defeat Australia and hope that Tunisia will not cause a dramatic upset against France. Given the odds, quality and rankings, Denmark is a much better team and will definitely prove that in the win-or-go-home match against Australia.

Denmark played really well in the previous two games, even in the loss to France, and is about time to win when they need it the most. Australia is in a much better position as they will advance even with a draw, but they are not a team that can defend with high quality during the entire game. Denmark will not go in all-offensive mode from kick-off, but will patiently find its way to victory. Knowing that Australia scored first against France and such a scenario would be probably deadly, Denmark will need to be locked in on defense as well, which they will do and advance from the Group Stage.

Denmark (-204)

Poland vs Argentina – 2PM ET

This is a clash between two teams that are first and second in Group C, which means whoever wins this game will progress through to the Round of 16. The team who loses this game may very well be eliminated, depending on what happens in the clash between Saudi Arabia and Mexico.

Tony Battalio

Poland comes into this game with a chance to shock the world and send the potential World Cup favorites home packing after the Group Stage. They haven’t looked the best so far and a missed penalty kick against Mexico is the only reason that they are in this situation right now. Had they converted that kick then their ticket would have already been punched and they could afford to relax during this game. However, that wasn’t the case and now Lewandowski will have to look to lead this team to a result in this game.

Argentina come into this one in a similar situation after their upset loss to Saudi Arabia to open up their 2022 World Cup campaign. If they fail to win this game and Saudi Arabia beats Mexico by more than one goal, then they could likely find themselves heading home and Messi’s international retirement tour will be starting much earlier than expected. However, I don’t expect that to be the case, as I expect Argentina to pull out the win in this game.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Argentina (-217)

Lewandowski’s missed penalty against Mexico might come to haunt Poland. Poland currently sits comfortably on top of the group with 4 points, but their qualification into the Round of 16 still hangs in the air. A win or a draw against Argentina guarantees them a spot in the next round. However, a loss in this match, depending on the outcome of Mexico versus Saudi Arabia, might send them packing. The stakes are tremendous, and the opponent is scary. Can Poland hold on?

Argentina was one of the favorites coming into the World Cup to win the competition. So far, they have had a hard time in the competition. Saudi Arabia brought a massive amount of fans to the stadium and used that energy to snatch a win. Mexico played physically and dominated most of the game, and a moment of brilliance coming from one of the greatest players of all time, Lionel Messi, was all it took for Argentina to earn the 3 points. Argentina versus Poland will be a hard-fought game, and the winner takes it all. The last time Lewandowski and Messi met each other, Messi walked away humiliated in an 8-2 defeat. This time around, he’s got the better team on his side. It’s time for a revenge game. Argentina wins.

This will be one of the most interesting games in the third round of the Group Stage. Poland has one point advantage compared to Argentina and they will advance to the knockout phase even with a draw. Argentina wants to have fate in their own hands and will also go for the win in this game, if they don’t it will all depend on the outcome of the Saudi Arabia versus Mexico game.

Poland will try to defend themselves the best way possible even though they are aware that that is pretty impossible for 90 minutes against Argentina. Lionel Messi and his teammates will not allow themselves to depend on others and will go strong in this game, not just to advance but to finish on top of the group. It may be a long way to get there, but Argentina will manage to do that and silence everyone who thought that they were out after the loss to Saudi Arabia in the opening game.

Argentina (-217)

Saudi Arabia vs Mexico – 2PM ET

Saudi Arabia and Mexico are currently in third and fourth place in Group C, which means that both teams need to win if they want to keep their dream of making the Round of 16 alive. Mexico needs to win and win big, while a win by any amount will see Saudi Arabia through.

Tony Battalio

Saudi Arabia opened up their World Cup with a bang after they upset Messi and Argentina but because of their struggles in the second Group Stage game, they may find themselves going home after this one. While they can still make it through with a draw, ideally they will need a win to secure their spot in the knockout rounds of the 2022 World Cup. They looked like a solid team in their first game, but it is fair to say that they certainly regressed in their second game against Poland.

Mexico is stuck in an interesting spot in this game and even if they win it is very likely that they are going home in this tournament. With a draw or win by Argentina, Mexico would have to smash Saudi Arabia by several goals to go through on goal differential, and with the way this Mexican team has played so far, that feels nearly impossible. That’s why my pick for this fourth and final game of the day is for the total number of goals to stay under the set line.

Tony’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Under Goals – 2.5 (-118)

Saudi Arabia pulled up the upset of the tournament beating Argentina in the first round of the competition. However, they still find themselves in the fear of missing out on making the Round of 16. If Argentina wins their match versus Poland by 1-0, only a win against Mexico sends Saudi Arabia into the Round of 16. Saudi Arabia will have the support of the crowd and will have to use that energy to come up with a positive result. The match against Mexico will be a super exciting, high-stakes game. An elimination match before the elimination stage even begins.

Mexico has yet to score a goal in this tournament. They have proved to be disciplined, physical, and tough to play against, but they lack creativity in attack and clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities. However, even though they are currently at the bottom of the group with only one point, depending on the goal difference, a win against Saudi Arabia might send them to the next round. In the past five World Cups, Mexico has always made the Round of 16, and I believe they will keep that streak going. I predict that they will beat Saudi Arabia and make it through.

Aleksandar’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Mexico (-147)

Both Saudi Arabia and Mexico have a chance to advance to the elimination phase but they need to win in this one. Saudi Arabia has a two-point advantage over Mexico but that doesn’t make much of a difference since winning is the only option, knowing that it is pretty unlikely for Argentina to lose against Poland.

Mexico, on the other hand, needs to beat Saudi Arabia and needs to do that by a large margin to have a shot at the elimination phase. Mexico did not score a goal in the previous two games which doesn’t sound promising. It is known how good and proud the Mexican team really is and there is no chance they will go down without a fight. Mexico will definitely win this game and the only question is if that will be enough to finish in second place in the group.

Marko’s FIFA World Cup Pick:

Mexico (-147)
