Atlanta Hawks @ Boston Celtics – 7:30PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Atlanta Hawks have their backs against the wall coming into game number five in Boston, and they will also be without Dejounte Murray in this one as well. That does not make their situation any easier as they are staring elimination in the face and they will need a solid performance from Trae Young and the pieces around him to stay alive in the first round playoff series. They will have to play the best basketball of the season as they head back to Boston where they were blown out twice during game one and game two of the series. So it is hard to see Atlanta being competitive in this one either.

The Boston Celtics find themselves in a great place heading into game number five of this first round series at home. They have picked up three victories in the first four games of the series and although they didn’t get the sweet they now have a chance to close it out in five games and wrap up this first round series as early as possible. They will be hoping to do just that as a Philadelphia team that is rested and ready to go will be waiting on them in round two after they swept the Brooklyn Nets in four games. That is also what I expect as I look for the Boston Celtics to close out the series here on Tuesday evening with a victory.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Boston Celtics -13.5 (-105)

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Denver Nuggets – 9PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Minnesota Timberwolves survived elimination game number four of the series over the weekend by winning in overtime against the Denver Nuggets at home. Now the series returns to Denver for Game number five in Minnesota will have to replicate every bit of that performance if they wanna survive to see game number six on their own home court against the Denver Nuggets. It certainly won’t be easy playing in Denver, but they’ve shown they’re very capable of picking up a victory in the series with the way they played in the previous game against the Nuggets.

The Denver Nuggets come into this one and a solid position as they look to close out the Minnesota Timberwolves here on Tuesday evening in front of their home fans. They picked up the first three victories in the series before finally losing in game number four and now find themselves only needing one more win in the next three games to advance to the second round. Nikola Jokić has been the catalyst behind their success for the entirety of this first round series, and I look for that to continue here in game number five as I have Denver, picking up the victory to officially wrap up the series and advance to the second round.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Denver Nuggets -9.5 (-115)

Los Angeles Clippers @ Phoenix Suns – 10PM ET

Tony Battalio

The Los Angeles Clippers have a tall task ahead of them, and that is winning three consecutive games against the Phoenix Suns starting with game number five here in Phoenix on Tuesday evening. After their victory in game number one of the series, everybody had high hopes for the Los Angeles Clippers, but then Kawhi Leonard would go on to miss the following three games, and now they find themselves in a position where if they don’t win out, they are eliminated. They haven’t had Paul George for the entirety of the series as well as it seems like their experiment with Leonard and George is failing more and more with each passing season. The one positive they can take from this series is the performance of Russell Westbrook, which gives them a tiny bit of hope in this one.

Ever since the Phoenix Suns made the trade for Kevin Durant, they became the favorites to win the Western Conference and advance to the NBA finals. After regrouping from their loss in the first game of the series to win three consecutive games, it seems as if that prediction is getting closer and closer to coming true. They have all the pieces, and as long as they can remain healthy, they are the odds on favorite to bull through the Western Conference and advance into the NBA finals. I look for them to close out this first round series with another dominating victory against the Los Angeles Clippers here on Tuesday evening as well.

SportsTips’ NBA Pick:

Phoenix Suns -12.5 (-110)
