Atlanta Hawks @ Miami Heat – 7:30pm ET

The Atlanta Hawks coming to this game is the number eight seed in the Eastern conference as they will be looking for a victory to officially become the seventh seed for the playoffs. They’ve had an up-and-down season and for a long time they failed to reach more than either one game above or one game below the .500 mark. It has been a very long time since they won a basketball game playing in Miami, but they certainly have a squad that is capable as long as Trae Young and Dejounte Murray are productive for this game against the Heat. 

The Miami Heat had a solid season and earned themselves the opportunity to host this play-in game as the seventh seed in the Eastern conference. Miami has performed well all year, and they have a distinct advantage when playing at home as well. They’ve also dominated the Atlanta Hawks at home over the past several seasons. Miami also dominated the season series and took three out of four games from Atlanta and I think they will get the win in this game as well.

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Lakers – 10pm ET

The Minnesota Timberwolves will travel on the road to play the Los Angeles Lakers as they look to capture the seventh seed in the Western Conference. It was a solid regular season for Minnesota but it was still a bit disappointing considering the amount of talent they had on their team. Before the season started, people looked at Rudy, Gobert, Anthony Edwards, and Karl-Anthony Towns as the next big three, but it’s fair to say things didn’t quite work out that way. Now they will be without Rudy Gobert for this one after he punched teammate Kyle Anderson and on top of that Jaden McDaniels fractured his hand punching a wall and he will miss this game as well. So it is fair to say the odds are stacked against Minnesota in this one playing a healthy Los Angeles team.

The Los Angeles Lakers come into this one with an opportunity to win at home and become the seventh seed in the Western Conference. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis fully healthy for this game they are the overwhelming favorites against a shorthanded Minnesota Timberwolves squad. I look for LeBron to take over in this one as he is always stepping his game up to another level for the playoffs. That is why I expect the Los Angeles Lakers to get a comfortable victory in this game against Minnesota and get themselves into the first round this weekend.
