The Portland Trail Blazers (26-28, 14-12 Home) will try to slow down one of the NBA’s top scoring teams when they welcome the Golden State Warriors (28-26, 7-20 Away) on Wednesday. Golden State dominated the Oklahoma City Thunder 141-114 at Chase Center on Monday.
Klay Thompson had a standout performance with 42 points. The Warriors are the seventh seed in the Western Conference. Portland lost in blowout fashion on Monday at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter, falling to the Milwaukee Bucks 127-108.
Damian Lillard had 28 points in the losing effort, carrying the team. The Trail Blazers are 11th in the Western Conference. This marks the final meeting of the season between the teams.
Golden State will be looking for a season sweep against Portland after getting the win in the only earlier meeting 118-112 at Chase Center in December 2022, their fourth straight head-to-head victory.
Jordan Poole led the Warriors with 41 points and six assists. Lillard had 34 points and eight rebounds in defeat. The Warriors have been led this season by Stephen Curry, who is averaging 29.4 points per game, ninth-highest in the league.
Meanwhile, Kevon Looney is grabbing 8.6 rebounds per game, and Draymond Green is dishing 6.7 assists. Lillard (30.8 ppg) has supplied much of the Blazers’ offense. He has the fifth-highest scoring average in the NBA.
Lillard also has doled out 7.2 assists per game, ninth-most in the league. Jusuf Nurkic has collected 9.4 rebounds per game. With 118.4 points per game, the Warriors are one of the top scoring offenses in the league (2nd).
The Warriors have come up short more often than not in recent visits to Moda Center at the Rose Quarter, losing six of the last 10. Golden State is 6-4 in the last 10 games with an average margin of +3.2 (122.4-119.2).
Portland has split the last 10 (5-5), allowing 120.9 points per game on average while scoring only 119.7 (-1.2 margin). The Trail Blazers are averaging 114.5 ppg for the full season while allowing 114.3.
