Free NBA Picks Today for Wednesday, January 27th, 2021
Wed 27th January 2021

Our NBA picks are on fire after a 7/9 night last night, including two games getting 100% picks right! Another 12 games tonight means 36 free NBA picks for you and we are very confident in our selections.

We see the Hawks and the Nets face off for the third time this season with the teams splitting the first two matchups. This is a very different Brooklyn team now but the Hawks have won four of their last five!

We have picked the straight up winner, winner against the spread and whether the game total will go over or under for that game and all 11 others below!

Indiana Pacers @ Charlotte Hornets – 7PM ET

The Indiana Pacers and Charlotte Hornets are set to go head to head in consecutive games and this is the first. Charlotte comes into this one off the back of a nine point loss to the Magic and have won just one of their last six games. Indiana on the other hand are coming in with some momentum after a 15 point victory over the Raptors.

The Pacers feared for the worst when Domantas Sabonis went down with a knee injury after just 11 minutes of playing time before missing the rest of the game, but scans came back all clear and he is listed as questionable for tonight’s clash. Malcolm Brogdon stepped up massively for Indiana with 36 points, seven rebounds and nine assists while Jeremy Lamb came off the bench to drop 22 points and seven boards.

It was a massive positive for the Pacers to be able to hold on to a lead without their All Star playing and they will need a similar team effort to overcome Charlotte who, despite their poor form, have been able to compete with the NBA’s best so far this season. Monday’s loss to Orlando saw three players score over 20 points but outside of them, no one could get anything going.

Gordon Hayward led the way with 24 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals while the guard combo of Devonte’ Graham and Terry Rozier combined for 45 points but also just five assists and three turnovers.

Indiana has the pieces across all positions to fill the gaps left by missing pieces and be able to overcome this Charlotte side. Look for Myles Turner to continue controlling the paint on defense and the Pacers’ guards to swarm Graham and Rozier all night.

NBA Pick – Indiana Pacers (-103)
NBA Spread – Indiana Pacers +1.5 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Under 220 (-105)

Detroit Pistons @ Cleveland Cavaliers – 7PM ET

After defeating the Nets in back to back games, the Cleveland Cavaliers were embarrassed by Boston and the Lakers in their two most recent games. They now host a central division rival in the Detroit Pistons who have some sneaky good form despite winning just two of their last six.

After losing to the East-leading Sixers by just four points, Detroit came out and smacked them by 15 points on Monday night. Delon Wright was the hot hand for the Pistons with 28 points on 67% shooting but also contributed seven boards, nine assists and two steals. Jerami Grant continued his hot form with 25, eight and five in what was Detroit’s most complete team performance of the season and they did it without Derrick Rose!

Cleveland would be hoping for a do-over of Monday night’s fourth quarter. They went into the final break up two points on LeBron James and the Lakers before allowing their former poster child to outscore them by himself in the final 12 minutes 21-19, with the Cavs losing by seven.

Andre Drummond had another monster game, despite losing minutes to Jarrett Allen, with 25 points and 17 boards but Cleveland just couldn’t stop James down the stretch.

After Detroit’s big night against the Sixers, they should be looking to feast on this Cleveland side, however they have shown an inability to slow down big men and Drummond put up 23 and 16 when these sides met in December, which was a nine point win to Cleveland. We are siding with the Cavs to make it 2-0 on the season against Detroit.

NBA Pick – Cleveland Cavaliers (-145)
NBA Spread – Cleveland Cavaliers -3.0 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Over 215 (-110)

Sacramento Kings @ Orlando Magic – 7PM ET

This is essentially a pick ‘em in the odds but we are happily taking the home team in this one. The Sacramento Kings’ win over New York on Friday, their most recent game due to COVID-19 postponements, was their first in their last five tries. Meanwhile the Orlando Magic have gone 2-2 since Evan Fournier returned to the lineup and catch the Kings who are just starting a four game road trip.

Fournier has averaged over 22 points per game in his four games back from injury but Monday’s win over Charlotte was all about Nikola Vucevic who had 28 points, 12 boards and seven assists. Cole Anthony looks settled in the starting role after finishing with 21 points and the Magic look very good.

Sacramento on the other hand has not been that good. The Knicks were on the second night of a back to back when Sacramento beat them and their defense is still a worry. De’Aaron Fox and Harrison Barnes both had great games, combining for 43 points and 14 assists while Richaun Holmes had 10 points, 14 boards and six blocks.

We are looking for Fox to be aggressive against the rookie point guard in Anthony and if Holmes can help slow down Vucevic in any capacity then the Kings will have a chance, but Orlando is the better team and Sacramento has won just one of five games on the road this season.

NBA Pick – Orlando Magic (-115)
NBA Spread – Orlando Magic -1 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Over 221 (-110)

Brooklyn Nets @ Atlanta Hawks – 7:30PM ET

After losing back to back games to the Cavs, the new look Brooklyn Nets took two games from the Heat and head down to Atlanta with some very nice momentum. The Hawks have some nice momentum of their own, winning four of their last five, however their wins were two over the undermanned and plain awful Timberwolves, a scrappy overtime win over Detroit and most recently a nine point victory over the Clippers who were without Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Patrick Beverly.

You can only beat what is put in front of you, and that is what the Hawks have been doing. Trae Young has scored 43 and 38 points in his last two games while Clint Capela is averaging 20 points, 19 boards and five blocks over his last five. Atlanta used a 65-51 second half to get the job done over the Clippers as all five starters scored in double figures.

They will be looking to do more of the same against a, albeit slightly different now, Brooklyn side that they have already faced twice. The teams split the two meetings on either side of New Years but Atlanta holds a +14 net score differential in those games, which should give them confidence here.

Brooklyn comes in off back to back wins and will be looking to take advantage of an Atlanta side on the second night of a back to back. The Hawks are 0-2 on the second nights of back to backs with this being one of their tougher tests in the form of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. Monday’s win over Miami saw the Nets keep the Heat to just 85 total points while both Durant and Harden put up 20.

The Nets’ big three seem to have figured out how to play effective basketball together and the Hawks just won’t have the firepower to keep up with them. This will be a high scoring and fun contest, but Brooklyn will be too good.

NBA Pick – Brooklyn Nets (-334)
NBA Spread – Brooklyn Nets -6.5 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Over 238 (-110)

Denver Nuggets @ Miami Heat – 7:30PM ET

The Miami Heat will be without Jimmy Butler for a ninth straight game when they host the Denver Nuggets this evening. Butler has been out due to COVID-19 and the Heat have sorely missed him. Denver should be looking to take advantage of this undermanned Heat team to remain undefeated on their current road trip.

This will be the fourth of five straight games on the road for Denver, already beating Phoenix twice and most recently Dallas. Michael Porter Jr made his return at the start of the road trip but Monday was clearly his most impressive performance, put up 30 points and eight boards off the bench to help Denver get over the line by four points, despite a monster triple double from Luka Doncic.

Nikola Jokic had another double double with 20 points and 10 boards but will have his hands full at both ends of the floor against Bam Adebayo. The Miami All Star has been averaging 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists over the last two weeks and had 26, 10 and five in their 13 point loss to Brooklyn on Monday. Goran Dragic had 21, six and five but no other Miami player could get anything going on offense.

The Nuggets have won four straight and five of their last six, playing good team basketball with multiple players stepping up on any given night. Given Butler is still out and Tyler Herro is listed as questionable for the contest, Denver should be getting this one easily.

NBA Pick – Denver Nuggets (-228)
NBA Spread – Denver Nuggets -5 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Over 219.5 (-110)

Los Angeles Lakers @ Philadelphia 76ers – 7:30PM ET

The best in the East hosting the best in the West as LeBron James and the Lakers roll into Philly to take on Joel Embiid and the Sixers. Despite losing their last game, with Embiid not playing, the Sixers have won five of their last seven and have a 9-1 record at home, with their only loss coming when they were missing nearly their entire regular rotation due to COVID-19. This will be an extremely tough test for the Lakers who will be putting their perfect 10-0 road record on the line.

James is coming off his best performance of the season against his hometown side, the Cavaliers. With the Lakers down two heading into the last quarter, James decided to seal the game on his own, scoring 21 points in the final frame to finish with 46, eight boards, six assists, two steals and two blocks in the seven point win. Anthony Davis had a double double with three steals and three blocks while Montrezl Harrell had 15 off the bench.

The Lakers were extremely impressive and have been all season, especially on the road, but Embiid should be licking his lips here. He got to sit out the last game as a precautionary measure and Andre Drummond just lit up the Lakers big men for 25 points and 17 boards. He’ll be hoping that his teammates can step up to the plate better as Tobias Harris was the only one to score 20+ in an embarrassing 15 point loss to the Pistons.

This is a very interesting matchup between two very good sides. Ben Simmons has been underperforming offensively but is still one of the premier wing defenders in the league and will be leading the brigade to slow down James. Davis and Embiid are two of the best versatile big men our game has to offer and we see now reason that both of them won’t light it up in this one, but we are siding with the team that is perfect on the road. The Sixers are just 2-2 after a loss, showing that they are vulnerable and both James and Davis have points to prove in this one.

NBA Pick – Los Angeles Lakers (-134)
NBA Spread – Los Angeles Lakers -2.5 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Under 221.5 (-105)

Milwaukee Bucks @ Toronto Raptors – 7:30PM ET

A matchup that would have been circled when the fixture came out, that is now slightly less appealing that we have seen the teams play a month of basketball already. The 10-6 Milwaukee Bucks head down to Tampa to take on the 7-10 Toronto Raptors.

Despite their slow start, the Raptors have won five of their last seven and actually boast a positive record at their temporary home in Tampa Bay. With that being said their most recent performance was a 15 point loss to the Pacers, but they were without Pascal Siakam in the contest. Norman Powell got the start for Siakam and had 24, six and six while Fred Van Vleet led the scoring with 25. The issue was on the other side of the ball, allowing Malcolm Brogdon to put up 36 points and the Pacers to put up 129.

The Bucks, who have the second best offensive rating in the league, will be wanting to take advantage of that lack of defense. After losing consecutive games to the Nets and the Lakers, Milwaukee came out and dominated the Hawks on Sunday. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 27, 14 and eight and Bobby Portis put up 21 and six off the bench in the 129-115 victory.

We are picking that Giannis will come out hard against a side that has eliminated him from the playoffs previously, especially as Siakam, who would be his primary defender and usually does quite well, is listed as questionable. The Bucks can score from too many levels for the Raptors to keep up and despite the Bucks being just 3-4 on the road this season, we are backing them to get the win here tonight.

NBA Pick – Milwaukee Bucks (-286)
NBA Spread – Toronto Raptors +6.5 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Over 227.5 (-110)

Chicago Bulls @ Memphis Grizzlies – 8PM ET

*This game was postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols, a new date has not been confirmed at this time*

Boston Celtics @ San Antonio Spurs – 8:30PM ET

One night after putting up 141 on the Cavs, the Boston Celtics got Jayson Tatum back for the first time in weeks against Chicago on Monday in a 119-103 win that pushed them up to second in the East. They now travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs who recovered from back to back losses to dismantle the Wizards by 20 points on Sunday.

With DeMar DeRozan scoring just nine points, the Spurs needed others to step up and that is exactly what happened. Patty Mills came off the bench to lead their scoring with 21 while Dejounte Murray had a triple double with just one turnover. Seven different Spurs players scored in double figures and despite Brad Beal scoring 31, they kept the Wizards to just 101 points.

This will be a much harder contest for San Antonio. Despite Tatum’s return, he is still yet to play a game with Kemba Walker, who returned during Tatum’s absence but was rested on Monday. Jaylen Brown was the hot hand with 26 points while Tatum had 24 in his first game back with Marcus Smart putting up a 13 point, 11 assist triple double.

This will be the first game Boston plays at full strength and they will be too much for San Antonio to handle. The Celtics play good basketball at both ends of the floor and should get a comfortable win on the road here against a side that is just 3-5 on their home court.

NBA Pick – Boston Celtics (-165)
NBA Spread – Boston Celtics -3.5 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Under 225 (-110)

Washington Wizards @ New Orleans Pelicans – 9PM ET

These two sides are just plain awful at the moment. The Wizards finally returned from a 12 day absence due to a COVID-19 outbreak and have played two games for a 20 point loss and a 19 point loss, both of those despite Bradley Beal scoring over 30 points. It doesn’t get any better for the Pelicans who have lost three straight and eight of their last nine, most recently against the undermanned and struggling Minnesota Timberwolves.

Saturday’s loss to the Wolves saw Brandon Ingram score 30, Eric Bledsoe score 28 while Zion Williamson had a 19 point, 11 rebound double double but the Pelicans gave up 120 points to Minnesota, the most they had scored all season in a non-overtime game. The Pels are still a bottom five team in terms of turnovers and had another 20 against Minnesota whilst also making the second fewest threes per game and shooting them at the third worst rate.

And then there is Washington. Last night Beal scored 33 points and the Wizards scored 88. Only one player shot better than 43% from the field and that was Robin Lopez who had 10 points on 5/7 shooting. Russell Westbrook had 19, 11 boards and seven assists but shot 41.2% with six turnovers.

The positive for Washington, since they seem to play better without him, is that Westbrook is not playing in this one as it is the second night of a back to back, but neither team really has any place winning. Beal will be the best player on the court but New Orleans has a better overall roster. Washington is 2-5 on the road while the Pelicans are 2-3 at home. New Orleans should win this but there is no confidence here at all.

NBA Pick – New Orleans Pelicans (-358)
NBA Spread – Washington Wizards +7.5 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Over 226.5 (-110)

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Phoenix Suns – 9PM ET

The Phoenix Suns have won just one of their last five games heading into this clash with the Oklahoma City Thunder but we are picking that this is a good game to turn their fortunes around.

OKC snapped a three game skid with a surprise win over the Blazers on Monday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 24, nine and six while Mike Muscala had 23 points on 6/10 from deep off the bench. The Thunder got the jump on Portland, getting out to a 10 point lead after one quarter and never let go of it.

They will be looking from a similar effort and Shai will want to play even better against his mentor from last year, Chris Paul. Averaging just 13 points and nine assists, Paul isn’t have a season like he did for the Thunder, but with Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton and the Phoenix support cast that he has, he doesn’t need to play at that level.

The Sun’s last game was Saturday night, their second straight game against the Nuggets and their second straight overtime loss. After going down 130-126 in overtime on Friday, the Suns fell to Denver after two overtimes on Saturday night, well and truly earning the three day rest that the fixture gave them, but leaving a sour taste in their mouth. Booker missed the second matchup with a hamstring strain and will be sidelined for this one as well, but it just means that the Suns have to step up. Paul had 21 points and 13 assists while Jae Crowder also had 21 and Ayton had 17 points, 13 boards and two blocks.

Given Booker is out for tonight, it makes this one more interesting however the Suns are still a better team and we are picking them to turn things around and get it done at home.

NBA Pick – Phoenix Suns (-286)
NBA Spread – Oklahoma City Thunder +6.5 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Under 216 (-105)

Dallas Mavericks @ Utah Jazz – 9PM ET

One night after defeating the Knicks, Utah plays host to the Mavericks for the first of two consecutive matchups between the two sides. That was Utah’s ninth straight win while Dallas has lost two straight and five of their last seven.

The Mavs last played on Monday night, where despite a 35 point, 11 rebound, 16 assist triple double along with four steals from Luka Doncic, they fell short of the Nuggets, losing 113-117. Tim Hardaway Jr had 19 and both Kristaps Porzingis and James Johnson had 16 but the Mavs were short handed and you could tell.

The positive is that Josh Richardson, Dorian Finney-Smith and Dwight Powell are all expected to return after missing a lengthy stint on the sidelines due to COVID-19. They have come back at a perfect time, nice and rested against a Utah side on the second night of a back to back, being just 1-1 in that situation previously.

After getting down by as many as 15 in the first half, Utah clawed their way back and used a 28-13 last quarter to seal the win. With Donovan Mitchell shooting just 3/15 from the field, Royce O’Neale was the surprise leading scorer with 20 points while Rudy Gobert had a monster 18 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks.

While the Mavs are getting some important pieces back, the Jazz shot a dismal 40% from the field and 31% from behind the arc but still managed to win by 14. We aren’t expecting them to shoot that poorly twice in a row and we aren’t expecting their nine game streak to end tonight. It will be tougher than expected however as Donovan Mitchell was a day time scratching, but given their performance last night with him playing the way he did, still take the Jazz.

NBA Pick – Utah Jazz (-140)
NBA Spread – Utah Jazz -3 (-105)
Game Totals Pick – Under 220.5 (-105)

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Golden State Warriors – 10PM ET

The second of two straight contests between these sides, with the first leg going to Golden State. Minnesota came in off their fourth win of the season but were instantly humbled by Steph Curry and the Warriors.

Golden State stopped their own two game slide with the win and it was a fast start that did it for them. An 11-point lead after the first quarter was enough to keep the Wolves away with Curry shooting 11/21 from the field and 7/12 from deep on his way to 36 points. Andrew Wiggins had 23 and six boards against his former side while Kelly Oubre Jr had 14, six and four and the trio combined for nine steals in the win.

Minnesota were once again without Karl-Anthony Towns and Juancho Hernangomez due to COVID-19 but D’Angelo Russell also missed with a quad contusion. Both Towns and Hernangomez are already ruled out of this one while Russell is still just questionable to return. Malik Beasley continued his hot form with 30 points on 10/18 shooting while #1 pick in the 2020 draft, Anthony Edwards, had 15 points, two better than James Wiseman, who was selected one pick later.

Golden State will be winning this second leg here, whether Russell plays or not. The Warriors are 6-4 at home while Minnesota are just 1-6 on the road. The Wolves have played some very bad basketball without Towns in the lineup and it was even worse with no Russell as well.

NBA Pick – Golden State Warriors (-400)
NBA Spread – Golden State Warriors -8.5 (-110)
Game Totals Pick – Under 229.5 (-105)
