The Detroit Pistons (5-16, 3-5 Home) will try to slow down one of the NBA’s top scoring teams when they welcome the Cleveland Cavaliers (12-7, 4-6 Away) on Sunday.
Cleveland lost to the Milwaukee Bucks 117-102 at Fiserv Forum on Friday, their fifth straight loss away from home. Donovan Mitchell led the way in the losing effort with 29 points. The Cavaliers are three games back in the Eastern Conference, currently sitting in third.
Detroit lost on Friday at Footprint Center, falling to the Phoenix Suns 108-102. Bojan Bogdanovic recorded 19 points to top the scoresheet in the losing effort. With 17 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds, Killian Hayes also had a strong game. The Pistons are 15th in the Eastern Conference.
The teams are meeting for the last time this season. After taking the only previous season matchup against Detroit 112-88 at Little Caesars Arena on November 4, Cleveland will be pursuing a season sweep. Jarrett Allen led the Cavaliers with 23 points, while Kevin Love played a key role with 21 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds.
Cade Cunningham had 19 points in defeat. Mitchell is averaging 30.0 points per game, best in the NBA, to lead the Cavs in scoring this season. Mitchell also has dished 5.4 assists per game, most in the NBA. Meanwhile, Allen is grabbing 10.8 rebounds.
Bogdanovic (20.6 ppg) has powered the Pistons’ offense. He is the top scorer in the league. Isaiah Stewart is averaging 9.3 rebounds per game, most in the NBA, and Jaden Ivey is distributing 4.3 assists (1st).The Cavaliers rank as one of the top scoring offenses in the league, third-best with 114.8 points per game.
