The Memphis Grizzlies (41-26, 13-21 Away) head to face the Miami Heat (37-33, 23-13 Home) Wednesday in what may turn out to be a low-scoring game.
Memphis topped the Dallas Mavericks 104-88 at American Airlines Center on Monday, their third straight win. Desmond Bane was a top performer with 23 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. The Grizzlies are the third seed in the Western Conference.
Miami emerged victorious on Monday at FTX Arena, beating the Utah Jazz 119-115. Jimmy Butler had 24 points and eight rebounds, carrying the team. The Heat are seventh in the Eastern Conference.
The teams are meeting for the last time this season. After winning the only previous season matchup against Miami 101-93 at FedExForum in December 2022, Memphis will be looking for a season sweep. Tyus Jones led the Grizzlies with 28 points and 10 assists. Tyler Herro had 23 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
The Grizzlies have been led this season by Ja Morant, who is averaging 27.1 points per game, ninth-highest in the NBA. Morant also has dished 8.2 assists per game, sixth-most in the league.
Meanwhile, Jaren Jackson Jr. is grabbing 6.6 rebounds.Butler (22.6 ppg), Bam Adebayo (20.9), and Herro (20.3) have supplied much of the Heat’s offense. Adebayo also has averaged 9.4 rebounds per game, while Butler has doled out 5.0 assists per game.
The Grizzlies and the Heat rank as two of the best defenses in the NBA, first and fifth in defensive efficiency, respectively.The Grizzlies have come up short more often than not in recent games at FTX Arena, losing six of the last 10.
