Starter Tony Gonsolin threw six scoreless innings – striking out six – for the win. David Peralta went 1 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs in the win. Andrew Vaughn was 2 for 4 with a double and one run for the White Sox.
ON THE MOUND
Mike Clevinger (3-4, 4.19 ERA) is set to take the mound for Chicago. The righty allowed three runs over 5.2 innings in his last start, a 3-0 road defeat against the Yankees on Thursday.
He took the loss, scattering six hits while striking out two and walking one. Clevinger is making his first appearance against the Dodgers this season.
Over three starts against the Dodgers in 2022, Clevinger was 0-2 with a 9.69 ERA over 13 innings. He had 11 strikeouts and four walks. Southpaw Clayton Kershaw (8-4, 2.95 ERA) will take the mound for Los Angeles.
It’s his first appearance of the season against the White Sox. In his last start on Thursday, Kershaw got the win on the road against the Reds. He threw seven scoreless innings and gave up five hits, striking out nine and walking two in the 6-0 victory. The left-hander is tied for the NL lead in wins and is tied for fourth in strikeouts (93) and fifth in ERA.
