Toronto Blue Jays @ New York Yankees – 1.05PM ET
It’s the second game of the Blue Jays and Yankees season, also the second of a three game mini series for both teams. The two faced off on Opening Day with Toronto leaving victorious, in a tight game 3-2. Both teams got a rest day on Friday and should be back again ready for another tight tussle.
Can the Blue Jays keep their momentum going and start the new season 2-0? Or can the Yankees fire back, and take this three game mini series to a decider? All will be revealed on Saturday afternoon!
No shortcuts. No quit. Every inch will be earned.

While looking strictly at the score of the pair’s first game, 3-2, it looked like a close game. But Toronto were very solid in their opening game of the season. There were a lot of team members that started to flex their muscles including Teoscar Hernandez and Randal Grichuk. It was pitcher Jordan Romano that really helped the Blue Jay seal the deal as he threw a scoreless ninth innings.
The Yankees have some really valuable players within the team, but the Blue Jays did a stellar job at keeping them at bay. Gary Sanchez and Clint Frazier had two hits each, where Sanchez got the Yankees on the board with a two run homer, but that was all she wrote! Gerrit Cole pitched for 5.1 innings, but he wasn’t as effective as he or the Yankees would have liked him to be.
Cleveland Indians @ Detroit Tigers – 1.10PM ET
It’s a rematch we’ve been waiting for, after the Indians and Tigers fought out a close battle on Opening Day, with the Tigers using that home advantage well to come away with the win, 3-2. What’s surprising is that Cleveland managed to get more hits in comparison to their opponent, but they weren’t able to capitalize on it.
In a game where no player had 1+ hits, it was Roberto Perez of the Cleveland Indians who was the shining star. He had one hit, two walks along with two runs. Both teams will be looking to improve this game getting more bat to ball.
The mountain of changes that the Tigers made throughout the offseason paid off in their first game of the season. Many believe they are looking more competitive in their AL Central division, but only time will tell! Miguel Cabrera was helpful in the Tigers win in this game where he has two RBI’s along with his home run.
Texas Rangers @ Kansas City Royals – 2.10PM ET
Game one of this three game mini series on Opening Day was crazy! Such an interesting game to watch, and a very, very high scoring one at that, with the Royals coming home with the win, 14-10. Yes, that’s right 14-10, it’s not a typo! In the first innings alone both teams had 5 home runs.
Pitching was clearly a struggle in this game. Both teams were trading blows in the first 3 innings but it was the 4th innings that saw the Royals get the edge, and were able to maintain it for the rest of the game.

The Texas Rangers did not have a good season last year, where they finished dead last in the AL with a 22-38 record in a shortened COVID-19 season. The Rangers also had a terrible run differential, -88, worst out of all teams in the MLB. Many people expect more of the same this year from the Rangers, and their World Series odds were second to last before the season kicked off.
While the Royals weren’t exactly lighting it up last season either, they certainly did a better job then the Rangers! They finished 4th in the AL Central with a record of 26-34. Bettors also don’t have much confidence in the Royals to win the World Series either, they are tied as the third biggest long shots to take home the trophy.
With the crazy scoreline that occurred on Opening Day, it is making this game hard to predict. Will it be more of the same like what happened in their first game? Or will things flatten out and become somewhat more normal?
Tampa Bay Rays @ Miami Marlins – 6.10PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins are back at it again on Saturday night after facing off just 24 hours earlier where the Rays won again. Tampa Bay opened the 3 game mini series with a win on the road, while the second game was also won by Tampa Bay. This is the third and final game, and it is an interesting clash to see who is able to leave this first mini series with a bit of momentum.
On Opening Day, it was a slow scoring affair, where Tampa Bay didn’t even allow Miami to get on the board, winning 1-0. The one and only run came all the way in the eighth innings, so the Rays really did leave it to the last minute.
The second game in this mini series, however, was a little bit more high scoring, at 6-4 Tampa Bay Rays victory. It took a while for scoring to open up, until the sixth innings to be exact. But once that first run was scored, the flood gates really opened up. It was a close one, with the Marlins actually leading the way until the very last innings where the Rays scored 4 runs to seal the deal.
The reigning American League champions are looking as good as possible to start the season and many are expecting more of the same for them this season. With two wins already under their belt, we can expect more of the same in this game, with Tampa Bay clean sweeping the Miami Marlins in this three game mini series.
Minnesota Twins @ Milwaukee Brewers – 7.10PM ET
The Twins and Brewers are clashing again at American Family Field. In the first match Milwaukee was able to use the home advantage to take the win, 6-5. It was the Twins game to lose, and that’s exactly what happened in the last innings where they were up 5-2. But a comical amount of errors allowed the Brewers the chance to get back in the game, scoring three runs in the last innings to win 6-5.
The Twins have so much offensive power, so when it came down to defence they were struggling a little bit. Minnesota have also lost key player Josh Donaldson, who is injured and isn’t expected to play in this match on Saturday night.
— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) April 1, 2021
Travis Shaw was a key player in the game for the Milwaukee Brewers, as he drove three runs. The Brewers need to be more proactive in this game and we don’t think the Twins will make the same twice, so there won’t be another easy come from behind victory again.
