The Los Angeles Angels (30-27) will have their work cut out for them against Framber Valdez at Minute Maid Park on Thursday when the impressive left-hander takes the mound for the Houston Astros (32-23) to open a four-game series.

The Angels are in the midst of a seven-game road trip. They won two out of three in their last series against the White Sox, taking the finale 12-5 on Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field. Shohei Ohtani was 2 for 3 with two home runs, three runs, and four RBIs.

Taylor Ward added a home run, two runs, and two RBIs. The Astros are in the midst of a seven-game homestand. They lost two of three against the Twins in their last series, dropping the finale 8-2 on Wednesday at Minute Maid Park. Yainer Diaz went 1 for 2 with a solo home run.

In his last start on Saturday, Valdez got the win on the road against the Athletics. He threw six innings and gave up one run on four hits, striking out five and walking three in the 6-3 triumph. The lefty ranks fourth in the AL in ERA.
