New York Mets @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

The New York Mets will take on the Miami Marlins in game two of this four game weekend series. In game one it was the New York Mets who picked up the victory by a score of 5-3. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of the series with another win here on Friday evening. Meanwhile, Miami will be looking to even it up at one game a piece.

Tony Battalio

It was a game full of offensive explosions during game one of the 2023 season. As the New York Mets in Miami Marlins combine for eight runs to open up the year. It was tied heading into the later innings before the New York Mets pulled away to secure the victory over the Miami Marlins, and give themselves an early lead in the National League East. With the schedule change, reducing the number of division games against the team down to 14 each and every game against the divisional opponent is much more important this season. So now the New York Mets will look to win their second consecutive game over the Miami Marlins here in this one on Friday evening.

Both Max Scherzer and Sandy Alcantara started out the game pretty solid, but by the end of their night, they both ended up giving up a few runs. The difference is Max Scherzer would end up getting the wind because the Mets jumped on an early lead. Newest addition, Luis Arraez also showed some promise for the Miami Marlins last night. Meanwhile, the Mets offense looked as solid as you would expect, as they were led by Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo. I expect a similar type of game here in game number two of the series as I have the New York Mets picking up their second victory of the season.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

NY Mets (-115)

Chicago White Sox @ Houston Astros – 8:10PM ET

The Chicago White Sox will take on the Houston Astros in game two of this four game weekend series. In game one it was the Chicago White Sox who picked up the victory by a score of 3-2. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of the series with another win here on Friday evening. Meanwhile, Houston will be looking to even it up at one game a piece.

Tony Battalio

The Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros had an incredible opening game to the season last night on national television. It was a pitchers duel that lasted until the later innings before eventually, offenses emerged and Chicago would be the ones that would benefit the most from it. Now the Chicago White Sox will be looking to pick up their second victory of the season over the defending Major League Baseball champions in this game on Friday night. Dylan Cease looked absolutely unhittable during his time in the game, and it shows a lot of promise for the White Sox going forward. As they certainly look like they can contend in the American League Central this season with the Cleveland Guardians.

The Houston Astros also looked solid as Framber Valdez looked almost untouchable throughout the game as well before their bullpen gave the game away. After six scoreless innings from both teams, Chicago would eventually pull ahead late in the eighth inning to pick up the victory and it is likely that you will see a similar type of game in this one if the White Sox were to pick up their second victory in two days. Lance Lynn will take them out for Chicago and Christian Javier will be on the mound for Houston in this one on Friday evening. I’m going to have to roll with the upset and the momentum again as I’m taking the Chicago White Sox to pick up their second victory over the Houston Astros.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Chicago White Sox (+120)

Colorado Rockies @ San Diego Padres – 9:40PM ET

The Colorado Rockies will take on the San Diego Padres in game two of this four game weekend series. In game one it was the Colorado Rockies who picked up the victory by a score of 7-2. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of the series with another win here on Friday evening. Meanwhile, San Diego will be looking to even it up at one game a piece.

Tony Battalio

The Colorado Rockies looked incredible during their opening day victory last night against the San Diego Padres. It came as a bit of a surprise for everyone as everyone has expected San Diego to be one of the best teams in baseball this season. However, it’s only game one of 162 so it’ll be interesting to see if the Rockies can keep up any type of consistency throughout the season. Now they will be looking to pick up victory number two in this game on Friday night against the Padres and clinch a share of this four game weeknd series to open up the season.

The San Diego Padres will be looking to bounce back from their opening day loss to the Colorado Rockies on Thursday evening. Their star-studded offense never really quite got going as they only managed to score 2 runs in nine innings. Now they will be hoping a new day will bring more offensive production for the Padres here in game two of this four game weeknd series. Nick Martinez is scheduled to make his first start of the season for San Diego in this one while Kyle Freeland gets the nod for Colorado. I have the Padres picking up the victory here in game two as I think they will bounce back with a solid performance.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

SD Padres (-190)

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Los Angeles Dodgers – 10:10PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in game two of this four game weekend series. In game one it was the Los Angeles Dodgers who picked up the victory by a score of 8-2. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of the series with another win here on Friday evening. Meanwhile, Arizona will be looking to even it up at one game a piece.

Tony Battalio

The Arizona Diamondbacks just couldn’t get their bats going last night against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and ended up being blown out as their pitching failed them after Zac Gallen pitched a solid first few innings of the game as well. Now they will be looking to recover here in game number two against the Los Angeles Dodgers but they will have to be a lot more consistent on both sides of the field. Merrill Kelly will make his first start of the season for Arizona and this one against Los Angeles as their number two starter looks to shut down the red hot Dodgers offense.

The Los Angeles Dodgers looked incredible last night, and their bats came alive to open up the season as they scored eight runs against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Despite a slow start and being held scoreless for the first couple of innings, they exploded in the third inning, as well as the remainder of the middle innings during the game. Whether you consider this a concern or a sign of things to come, everyone was getting their back to the ball except for the superstar Mookie Betts, who did struggle last night. If Beth can come around and the remainder of the lineup can continue to hit like they did yesterday, this Dodgers club may open up the season with a four-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. I look for them to get victory number two in this game on Friday night.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

LA Dodgers (-190)

Cleveland Guardians @ Seattle Mariners – 10:10PM ET

The Cleveland Guardians will take on the Seattle Mariners in game two of this four game weekend series. In game one it was the Seattle Mariners who picked up the victory by a score of 3-0. Now they will be looking to clinch at least a share of the series with another win here on Friday evening. Meanwhile, Cleveland will be looking to even it up at one game a piece.

Tony Battalio

Shane Bieber looked absolutely incredible, tossing six scoreless innings to open up his 2023 campaign. However, a tale as old as time itself, the Cleveland guardians offense just couldn’t quite get going to open up the season. After Bieber exited the game, Trevor Stephan came in and threw a scoreless inning before handing off to James Karinchak, and that is when things imploded very fast. After what was an incredible game that lasted about an hour and a half before a single run was scored the Mariners busted through late in the game to claim a three nothing victory. Now the Cleveland guardians will be looking to bounce back here in Game number two as Hunter Gaddis takes the mound for his first start of the season.

Luis Castillo looked incredible during his first start of the season as he also pitched six scoreless innings against the Cleveland Guardians. He also hardly allowed any of them on base, as he virtually shut down the Cleveland Guardians offense that everyone expects to be a lot more improved from last year. Finally, the Seattle Mariners got some run support in the form of Ty France, who played well yesterday throughout the entirety of the game. Now the Seattle Mariners will be looking to get their second victory of the season over the Cleveland guardians here on Friday evening as they send former Cy Young Award winner, Robbie Ray to the mound. However, something tells me the Cleveland Guardians will bounce back and get the victory in this one.

SportsTips’ MLB Pick:

Cleveland Guardians (+140)
