Philadelphia Phillies @ Miami Marlins – 6:40PM ET

The Philadelphia Phillies come into the opening game of this series against the Miami Marlins after dropping a tough series finale to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday afternoon in extra innings. Now they will be looking to regroup against the Miami Marlins as their road trip takes them south to Florida after losing two out of three games to their in-state rivals over the weekend. It has been an up-and-down season for Philadelphia and if they don’t find some consistency here soon, their hopes of repeating as National League pennant winners will be completely dashed and they will be sitting on the couch when the postseason comes around. They come into Monday’s game with a record of 56-49 through their first 105 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. 

The Miami Marlins have shocked a lot of people this season and at the moment they look to be on a collision course with the playoffs if they can remain consistent throughout the remainder of the regular season. This series against their National League East divisional opponents will go a long way in determining how their fate will play out for the remainder of the 2023 Major League Baseball regular season. Miami comes into the opening game of this series with a record of 57-49 and in second place of the National League East division. They have some momentum coming into this one after picking up a victory in the finale of their series with Detroit on Sunday and I expect him to grab a victory over Philadelphia here on Monday as well.

San Diego Padres @ Colorado Rockies – 8:40PM ET

The San Diego Padres are stuck in a weird place at the moment, and nobody really knows if they will be buyers or sellers during the upcoming trade deadline. They went all in last season and they didn’t win the World Series and now they are seemingly stuck in limbo, despite a massive amount of talent on their roster. They have been treading water all season long and they have a lot of work to do if they want to get back into the playoff race and establish themselves as a contender to win the World Series this season. They come into this game with a record of 52-54 through their first 106 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. 

The Colorado Rockies are in the middle of a rough season this year as they seem to be in the early stages of their rebuild. They come into this game with one of the worst records in all of Major League Baseball this season and they will likely lose over 100 games this season unless they get hot quickly and get themselves some victories. Colorado comes into this game as losers of six out of their last 10 games on the season and they are over 20 games below the .500 mark coming into the opening game of the series against the San Diego Padres on Monday. I don’t expect it to get much better for them in this one as I have San Diego picking up the victory.

Cleveland Guardians @ Houston Astros – 8:40PM ET

The Cleveland Guardians are coming off of a solid performance in the finale of their four-game series against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon in the Windy City. Now they will be looking to grab a victory in the opening game of the series against the Houston Astros on Monday night, as their road trip continues. They have pulled within a half of a game of the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central division and with a victory in this game they have an opportunity to tie Minnesota for first place. It awaits to be seen if they are going to make any more moves at the trade deadline as there are some rumblings that they could be open to trading away Aaron Civale. 

The Houston Astros have been one of the best teams in baseball over the last couple of months, and they will be looking to grab a victory in the opening game of the series on Monday night to keep the momentum rolling. Houston is trying to chase down the Texas Rangers for the top spot in the American League West division and they are within a handful of games as the calendar turns to the final day of July. They have an opportunity to rack up some victories against a Cleveland team that has struggled on the road this season and been inconsistent at the plate many times this year. However, I do look for Cleveland to grab the victory here on Monday night against Houston.

Boston Red Sox @ Seattle Mariners – 9:40PM ET

The Boston Red Sox are in a unique situation this season, as they are the only team in all of baseball to have a winning record yet be closer to last place of their division then they to first place. They are seven games above .500 at the moment and have a record of 56-49 through their first 105 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. However, they are coming into this game in a bit of a slump as they have lost their last two games in a row and five out of their last 10 on the season. They will be looking to get back on track in the opening game of the series against the Seattle Mariners on Monday night and they will need to turn things around quickly if they want to get themselves back into the wild card conversation in the American League.

The Seattle Mariners have a lot of work to do if they want to eclipse the 90 win mark for the third consecutive season, and make their second consecutive playoff appearance as well. They come into the opening game of this series at home against the Boston Red Sox three games above .500 with 54 victories in their first 105 games of the 2023 Major League Baseball season. They are getting hot at the moment as they have picked up seven victories in their last 10 games of the season and they are only five and a half games out of first place in the American League West division as well. I expect them to grab the victory in the opening game of the series on Monday night at home against Boston.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ San Francisco Giants – 9:45PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks had a fantastic start to the 2023 Major League Baseball season. However, since coming out of the All-Star break, they have struggled a little bit and then will be looking to get things back on track in the opening game of the series against the San Francisco Giants. They led the National League West division for the majority of the regular season before being passed up by both Los Angeles and eventually San Francisco as well. They will be hoping to pass up San Francisco once again, with a successful showing during the series, and it all starts with a solid performance here on Monday night. 

The San Francisco Giants are in the middle of a successful season, but they have arguably flown under the radar. That could be the best thing to happen to them because last time they were the best team in baseball, they crashed out of the playoffs in the first round. When they won their three World Series trophies, back in the mid 2010s they were always usually floating around the radar and not a dominant force in the league. They come into this game looking to claw away at the Los Angeles Dodgers lead in the National League West division with a victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks here on Monday night. However, I don’t see that happening as I think the Diamondbacks pick up the victory here in game one of this series.
