The Cleveland Guardians (19-22) are on the road to face the Chicago White Sox (15-28) at Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday. The White Sox took Tuesday’s series opener 8-3.
Lance Lynn went seven innings to get the win, allowing three runs (1 ER) on seven hits and striking out seven. Jake Burger went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs in the win.
Yasmani Grandal went 3 for 4 with one run. Myles Straw was 1 for 3 with a triple and two runs for the Guardians.
ON THE MOUND
Peyton Battenfield (0-4, 4.45 ERA) is slated for the start for Cleveland. The right-hander allowed five runs (four earned) over six innings in his last start, a 5-0 road defeat against the Tigers on May 10.
He was charged with the loss, giving up seven hits while striking out four.Right-hander Mike Clevinger (2-3, 4.79 ERA) will toe the rubber for Chicago.
It’s his first appearance of the season against the Guardians. Clevinger made two appearances against the Guardians in 2022, both as the starter, striking out eight and walking four over 10.2 innings (0-1, 4.22)
.In his last start on Thursday, Clevinger took a no-decision on the road against the Royals. He threw six innings and gave up three runs on three hits, striking out two and walking two in the 4-3 loss.
