The No. 19 Creighton Bluejays (18-10, 12-5 Big East) travel to face the Villanova Wildcats (14-14, 8-9 Big East), who will be looking to prolong their home winning streak, on Saturday. Creighton was narrowly beaten by the Marquette Golden Eagles 73-71 at CHI Health Center Omaha on Tuesday.
Baylor Scheierman led the way in the loss with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The Bluejays remain third in the Big East Conference. Villanova won a close one on Tuesday at Cintas Center, beating the Xavier Musketeers 64-63.
Justin Moore had 25 points, leading the team. The Wildcats are seventh in the Big East Conference. It’s the last meeting of the season between the teams. Creighton will be pursuing a season sweep against Villanova after winning the only earlier matchup 66-61 at CHI Health Center Omaha on February 4.
Trey Alexander led the Bluejays with 27 points. Eric Dixon had 20 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks in defeat. Alexander (13.2 ppg), Ryan Kalkbrenner (13.1), and Scheierman (13.1) are leading the Bluejays in scoring this season. Scheierman also has grabbed 8.3 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Ryan Nembhard is dishing 5.0 assists per game. Caleb Daniels (15.6 ppg) and Dixon (15.4) have supplied much of the Wildcats’ offense. Dixon also has collected 6.6 rebounds per game, while Daniels has tallied 2.6 assists per game.
