The UAB Blazers (15-7, 6-5 CUSA), one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams, welcome the No. 19 Florida Atlantic Owls (21-1, 11-0 CUSA) on Thursday.
Florida Atlantic topped the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 70-63 at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on Saturday, their 20th win in a row. Brandon Weatherspoon had a standout performance with 14 points and six rebounds.
The Owls remain first in Conference USA.UAB won in impressive fashion on Saturday at Tudor Fieldhouse, beating the Rice Owls 70-52. KJ Buffen had 20 points and 10 rebounds, carrying the team.
The Blazers are fifth in Conference USA.This marks the last meeting of the season between the teams. Florida Atlantic will be seeking a season sweep against UAB after getting the win in the only prior game 88-86 at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on January 5.
Johnell Davis led the Owls with 36 points and six rebounds. Jordan Walker had 21 points in the loss. Davis and Alijah Martin, averaging 12.0 and 10.4 points per game, respectively, have led the Owls in scoring this season.
Meanwhile, Vladislav Goldin is grabbing 6.2 rebounds per game, and Bryan Greenlee is dishing 2.5 assists.Walker has supplied much of the Blazers’ offense, averaging 17.3 points per game.
Trey Jemison is posting 8.5 rebounds per game, and Eric Gaines is doling out 4.7 assists.The Blazers rank as one of the most explosive offenses in the country, 17th-best with 82.0 points per game.
