#15 Providence @ Georgetown – 12pm ET

This Big East clash may end up being the most lopsided game of the evening. As the 15th ranked Providence Friars take on the Georgetown Hoyas. Providence is looking like an NCAA Tournament lock while Georgetown is all but eliminated at this point.

Marko Nadin

The Georgetown Hoyas have a season to forget as they are 11th in the Big East with a 6-14 record. The last time the Hoyas won was on December 15th against Howard and they have lost 10 games since then. The Hoyas have covered the spread only three times in the last ten games. They are coming off a 90-77 loss to St. John’s. Georgetown shoots only 41.5% from the field which doesn’t rank them among the top 300 teams but they are ranked 33rd in three-point percentage with 37.1%

The Providence Friars are on top of the Big East with a 192 record. The last time they lost was January 4th when Marquette destroyed them by 88-56. Providence has won the last six games, most recently 86-82 against St. John’s. Providence scored only 6 points more than their opponents which is not much considering their record. Guard RJ Reeves, who averages 10.1 points per game, will miss the game against Georgetown. The Friars have won 7 of the last 10 against the Hoyas, including an 83-75 win in January.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Providence (-295)

Tony Battalio

The Providence Friars come into this game with a record of 19-2 on the season and in my opinion, they are criminally underrated. As they are only ranked 15th in the nation, I believe they should be a top ten team. The Friars are currently in first place in the Big East conference with a record of 9-1 as well. They have won their last six games in a row and will be looking to extend that streak with a victory in this against the Georgetown Hoyas. The Friars will be looking to complete the season sweep of the Hoyas with a win in this one.

The previously mentioned Georgetown Hoyas come into this game with a record of 6-14 on the season. Compared to the rest of the Big East this season they have looked rough. The Hoyas are currently on a massive 10 game losing streak that isn’t likely to be broken anytime soon with the way they have played this season. One of those losses is to their opponents in this one. As the Providence Friars beat them by a score of 83-75 back on January 20th. As for the result of this game I expect more of the same as I have the Providence Friars picking up the victory over Georgetown in this one.

There’s not much summary needed for this matchup. Providence comes in leading the Big East, as one of the biggest surprises of the season so far, and I don’t think that’s hanging in this one. They come in at 19-2, with a 9-1 record in conference play. Arguably more important though, is the fact that they do have a few good wins along the way, despite a relatively weak schedule.

Georgetown, on the other hand, is simply awful. They come in at 6-14 and have lost ten straight, with their last win coming on December 14, and that doesn’t look like it’s ending anytime soon, as they don’t look like a team that can beat anyone in the Big East, at least with how they’ve played thought out most of this season. Give me the Friars in a big, big way.

Maryland @ #16 Ohio State – 1pm ET

The Maryland Terrapins come into this game with a record of 11-11 on the year as they prepare for a tough Ohio State team on the road in Columbus. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes come into this one ranked 16th in the nation and with a record of 13-5.

Marko Nadin

The Ohio State Buckeyes are 5th in the Big Ten with a 13-5 record. They are coming off an 81-78 loss to Purdue which snapped their three-game winning streak. Ohio State is a perfect 9-0 at home and has covered the spread in 5 of those 9 wins. The Buckeyes score 75.3 points per game, eight more than what they allow. They are in the top 25 teams with 48% shooting from the field and in the top 50 in three-point percentage with 36.8%. Justice Sueing who averages 6 points per game will sit out the game against the Terrapins.

The Maryland Terrapins are 12th in the Big Ten with an 11-11 record. They have lost 4 of the last 6 games including the last two against Indiana and Michigan State. The Terrapins are 2-3 on the road. They score less than 70 points per game and shoot only 42.6% from the field. Maryland is a pretty good defensive team with more than 36 rebounds per game led by Qudus Wahab with 6.3 per game. They have won 7 of the last 10 games against Ohio State but the Buckeyes won the last two.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Ohio State (-430)

Tony Battalio

The Maryland Terrapins come into this game with a record of 11-11 on the season. They will have their hands full in this one against a tough Ohio State team. Maryland is currently on a two game losing streak after losing back-to-back games to Michigan State and Indiana. Maryland will need to play a near perfect game to pick up a victory over Ohio State in this one. They are currently in the bottom half of the Big Ten conference with a record of 3-8 through their first 11 games.

The previously mentioned Ohio State Buckeyes come into this game with a record of 13-5 on the season. They are in fifth place of the Big Ten at the moment with a conference record of 6-3 through their first nine games. Ohio State is currently ranked 16th in the country. The Buckeyes are currently on a one game losing streak after dropping a close one to Purdue in their last contest by a score of 81-78. The loss to the Boilermakers snapped a three game winning streak for Ohio State. As for the result of this game I have the Buckeyes getting back into the winner’s column with a victory over Maryland.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Ohio State (-430)

Noah Dunlap

The Maryland Terrapins are one of those teams that come close often, but just don’t quite have enough talent to knock off most of the good to great teams in the Big Ten. They enter this one at 11-11 on the year, but eight of those losses have come in conference play, meaning that they’re pretty good against somewhat lesser competition, but can’t get over the hump in a loaded Big Ten.

Ohio State comes in as a sneaky good team. They’re ranked 16th in the latest polls, with a 13-5 record, but the more important (and impressive) aspect of this Buckeye team is their ability to knock off quality competition. They have numerous resume boosting wins, and while they do have a loss or two that you can question, I think that overall they’re one of the better teams in the country when playing well. Give me the Buckeyes in this one at home, but I think Maryland manages to keep it pretty close.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Ohio State (-430)

#6 Houston @ Cincinnati – 6pm ET

The Houston Cougars come into this one on a massive win streak they will be looking to defend. As they are also ranked 6th in the nation. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bearcats are looking for a huge upset win as they come in with a 15-6 record on the year.

Marko Nadin

The Cincinnati Bearcats are 5th in the American Conference with a 15-6 record including 11-2 at home. They are not a good shooting team with only 41.5% from the field and 32% from deep. They have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 60-59 win over East Carolina. The Bearcats are 7-3 in the last 10 games and have covered the spread in only 3 of those 10 games. Cincinnati is ranked 7th in the nation in field goal percentage allowed with 37.3%. They are 33rd with 62.5 allowed points per game.

The Houston Cougars are on top of the American Conference with a 19-2 record including 4-1 on the road. The last time they lost was on December 11th against Alabama and they have won 11 straight since. Houston is coming off a 73-62 win over Tulane. Houston is the best team in the nation in field goal percentage allowed with only 36.1% and is ranked third in points allowed per game with 56.5. Houston has won 7 of the last 10 against Cincinnati including the last three. They dominated the Bearcats in the last matchup, winning by 91-54.

Marko’s College Basketball Pick: Houston (-255)

Tony Battalio

The Houston Cougars come into this game ranked sixth in the nation. They are coming into this game with a record of 19-2 on the year as well. The Cougars are on an eleven game winning streak at the moment. If they keep up the winning they will certainly be a number one seed when the NCAA Tournament comes around. They are currently in first place of the American with a record of 8-0 inside of conference play. They do have SMU on their heels at the moment as they are only half a game back.

The Cincinnati Bearcats come into this game with a record of 15-6 on the year. Despite their impressive record, they are unranked at the moment. Their 5-3 record inside of conference play may have a lot to do with that. The Bearcats are currently on a one game winning streak after knocking off East Carolina in their last game as they have won four of their last five on the season. Their lone loss of this stretch was a three point loss to the Temple Owls. As for the result of this one, however, I don’t have the Bearcats winning as I have Houston running away with this one.

Tony’s College Basketball Pick: Houston (-255)

Noah Dunlap

This is an AAC matchup of two really good teams, it just so happens that one is a lot better than the other. Cincinnati has a 15-6 record, which looks pretty good, but it comes in a weak conference and they simply don’t have any truly impressive wins so far, which has a lot to do with why they’re unranked at the moment. They did get a win over East Carolina in their last outing, but I think the momentum ends here.

Houston, however, is a different story. They enter at 19-2, including undefeated in conference play, and if they continue to play the way they have been, I’m not sure they lose at all in AAC play. They’ve currently won 11 straight, following a tight loss on the road at Alabama in early December, and since then they’ve just been blowing teams out and taking care of business in a major way. I don’t think that changes here, as I like them to do the same on the road against a decent, but not great, Cincinnati team.

Noah’s College Basketball Pick: Houston (-255)
