The No. 10 Texas Longhorns (17-3, 6-2 Big 12), one of the nation’s top scoring teams, head to face the No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers (17-3, 7-1 SEC) on Saturday.
Texas topped the Oklahoma State Cowboys 89-75 at Moody Center on Tuesday. Marcus Carr had a standout performance with 21 points. The Longhorns remain third in the Big 12 Conference.
Tennessee won their third in a row in dominant fashion on Wednesday at Thompson-Boling Arena, beating the Georgia Bulldogs 70-41. Zakai Zeigler had 11 points and seven assists to lead the team.
The Volunteers remain second in the Southeastern Conference. It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. Texas came out on top in the only matchup between the teams last season 52-51 at Frank Erwin Special Events Center in January 2022.
Courtney Ramey led the Longhorns with 18 points. Zeigler had 12 points in the losing effort.Carr is averaging 17.6 points per game to lead the Longhorns in scoring this season. Carr also has dished 4.3 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Timmy Allen is grabbing 5.3 rebounds.Zeigler (10.7 ppg), Santiago Vescovi (10.4), and Olivier Nkamhoua (10.3) have powered the Volunteers’ offense. Zeigler also has distributed 4.9 assists per game. Meanwhile, Julian Phillips has posted 5.3 rebounds per game.
The Longhorns rank as one of the most explosive offenses in the NCAA, 23rd-best with 80.5 points per game. In the last 10 games, Texas is 8-2 with an average margin of +6.8 (80.2-73.4).
