The San Diego State Aztecs (26-6, 17-3 MWC) face off against the Utah State Aggies (26-7, 15-5 MWC) Saturday at Thomas & Mack Center in the Mountain West Conference Tournament Championship.
Utah State beat the Boise State Broncos 72-62 at Thomas & Mack Center yesterday in the semifinals, their seventh straight win. Max Shulga had a standout performance with 19 points.
San Diego State won their third in a row in the semifinals yesterday at Thomas & Mack Center, beating the San Jose State Spartans 64-49. Keshad Johnson had 15 points to lead the team.
San Diego State was unbeaten in the regular season against Utah State, getting the win in both of their matchups, the last of which was a 63-61 victory at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on February 8, their third straight head-to-head victory. Matt Bradley led the Aztecs with 18 points and six rebounds. Steven Ashworth had 18 points and six assists in the losing effort.
The Aggies have been led this season by Ashworth, who is averaging 16.4 points per game. Ashworth also has dished 4.6 assists per game. Meanwhile, Dan Akin is grabbing 6.9 rebounds.
Bradley’s 12.8 points per game have powered the Aztecs on offense. Nathan Mensah is collecting 5.8 rebounds per game, and Darrion Trammell is distributing 3.3 assists.
