The Marquette Golden Eagles (25-6, 17-3 Big East) face the St. John’s Red Storm (18-14, 8-13 Big East) Thursday at Madison Square Garden in the quarterfinals of the Big East Conference Tourney.
Marquette is meeting St. John’s for the second consecutive game, having won a close one in the last encounter 96-94 at Fiserv Forum on Saturday, their sixth consecutive win and their third straight head-to-head. Kam Jones led the Golden Eagles with 23 points, while Tyler Kolek added 18 points and 10 assists.
Dylan Addae-Wusu had 25 points and six rebounds in the losing effort. St. John’s defeated the Butler Bulldogs 76-63 at Madison Square Garden yesterday in the first round. With 19 points and 15 rebounds, Joel Soriano had a standout performance.
