The No. 25 Arkansas Razorbacks (12-5, 1-4 SEC), one of the top scoring teams in the Southeastern Conference, play host to the Ole Miss Rebels (9-9, 1-5 SEC) on Saturday. Ole Miss topped the South Carolina Gamecocks 70-58 at Colonial Life Arena on Tuesday.
Matthew Murrell had a standout performance with 23 points and nine rebounds. The Rebels are 13th in the Southeastern Conference. Arkansas lost their third in a row on Saturday at Memorial Gym, falling to the Vanderbilt Commodores 97-84. Ricky Council IV had 24 points in the loss, leading the team.
The Razorbacks rose to 12th in the Southeastern Conference. It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. Arkansas triumphed in the only matchup between the teams last season 64-55 at The Pavilion at Ole Miss in January 2022, their fourth straight head-to-head victory. JD Notae led the Razorbacks with 25 points, while Jaylin Williams contributed 18 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.
Murrell had 14 points and six rebounds in the losing effort. Murrell is averaging 15.6 points per game to lead the Rebels in scoring this season. Murrell also has dished 2.6 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Myles Burns is grabbing 6.3 rebounds. Council IV has been the primary provider for the Razorbacks on offense, averaging 18.3 points per game. Makhi Mitchell is collecting 5.8 rebounds per game, and Anthony Black is distributing 3.6 assists.
