The Louisville Cardinals (0-6) will try to slow down one of the country’s top shooting teams when they host the No. 22 Maryland Terrapins (6-0) on Tuesday. Maryland defeated the Coppin State Eagles 95-79 at Xfinity Center on Friday, their sixth win in a row. With 24 points and 10 rebounds, Julian Reese was a top performer.
Louisville lost their sixth in a row in blowout fashion on Wednesday at Lahaina Civic Center, falling to the Cincinnati Bearcats 81-62. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield had 15 points in the loss to lead the team. The Cardinals came out on top in the last meeting between the teams 63-55 at Baha Mar Convention Center in November 2021.
Malik Williams led the Cardinals with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Donta Scott had 14 points in the loss. The Terrapins have been led this season by Scott (15.5 ppg), Reese (15.0), and Hakim Hart (14.0). Reese also has grabbed 8.0 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Jahmir Young is dishing 3.2 assists per game.
El Ellis has supplied much of the Cardinals’ offense, averaging 17.2 points per game. Ellis also has recorded 3.5 assists per game. Huntley-Hatfield has collected 5.7 rebounds per game. The Terrapins rank as one of the most accurate field goal shooting teams in the country, 28th-best at 49.9%.
