The No. 19 Iowa State Cyclones (16-8, 7-5 Big 12), one of the NCAA’s top scoring defenses, head to face the No. 12 Kansas State Wildcats (19-7, 7-6 Big 12) on Saturday. Iowa State lost to the Oklahoma State Cowboys 64-56 at James H. Hilton Coliseum on Saturday.

Aljaz Kunc was the scoring leader in the loss with 13 points. Tamin Lipsey was another standout performer with 12 points and six rebounds. The Cyclones moved up to fourth in the Big 12 Conference.

Kansas State came up short on Tuesday at Lloyd Noble Center, falling to the Oklahoma Sooners 79-65. Nae’Qwan Tomlin had 17 points and 10 rebounds in defeat to lead the team. The Wildcats are fifth in the Big 12 Conference.

This is the last meeting of the season between the teams. After taking the only prior season meeting against Kansas State 80-76 at James H. Hilton Coliseum on January 24, Iowa State will be aiming for a season sweep. Jaren Holmes led the Cyclones with 23 points and seven assists. Markquis Nowell had 23 points and nine assists in the loss.

Holmes and Gabe Kalscheur, averaging 13.5 and 12.7 points per game, respectively, have led the Cyclones in scoring this season. Meanwhile, Osun Osunniyi is grabbing 4.1 rebounds per game, and Lipsey is dishing 4.7 assists.

Keyontae Johnson (17.5 ppg) and Nowell (16.8) have supplied much of the Wildcats’ offense. Johnson also has posted 7.5 rebounds per game, while Nowell has recorded 7.6 assists per game, third-most in the country.

The Cyclones are one of the toughest scoring defenses in the country, ranking 17th with 61.8 points per game allowed. The Cyclones are 4-6 in their last 10 games at Fred Bramlage Coliseum.

Iowa State is 4-6 in the last 10 games with an average margin of +2.7 (69.4-66.7). For the season, the Cyclones are averaging 70.1 points per game, compared to 61.8 for opponents.

Kansas State has also gone 4-6 over the last 10, allowing 72.2 points per game on average while scoring only 71.3 (-0.9 margin). The Wildcats are averaging 75.9 ppg for the full season while allowing 68.6.
