The No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks (23-5, 11-4 Big 12), one of the top shooting teams in the Big 12 Conference, play host to the West Virginia Mountaineers (16-12, 5-10 Big 12) on Saturday.
West Virginia blew out the Oklahoma State Cowboys 85-67 at WVU Coliseum on Monday. Erik Stevenson was the standout player with 23 points.
The Mountaineers dropped to ninth in the Big 12 Conference. Kansas won their fifth in a row on Monday at Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena, beating the TCU Horned Frogs 63-58. Gradey Dick topped the scoresheet with 19 points.
With 15 points and seven rebounds, Kevin McCullar Jr. also had a strong game. The Jayhawks fell to second in the Big 12 Conference. The teams are meeting for the last time this season. After winning the only earlier season matchup against West Virginia 76-62 at WVU Coliseum on January 7, their fourth straight head-to-head victory, Kansas will be pursuing a season sweep.
Dick led the Jayhawks with 16 points. Tre Mitchell had 15 points in defeat. The Mountaineers have been led this season by Stevenson, who is averaging 14.6 points per game.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Bell Jr. is grabbing 5.5 rebounds per game, and Kedrian Johnson is dishing 3.1 assists.Jalen Wilson (19.9 ppg) has powered the Jayhawks on offense. Wilson also has collected 8.5 rebounds per game.
Dajuan Harris Jr. has recorded 6.3 assists per game.The Jayhawks are one of the conference’s most accurate field goal shooting teams, ranking second at 46.7%. The Mountaineers have struggled immensely in recent trips to Allen Fieldhouse, losing each of the last 10.
