The No. 4 Kansas Jayhawks (11-1) and Oklahoma State Cowboys (8-4) start their Big 12 Conference schedules on Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse.
Oklahoma State blew out the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders 81-58 at Gallagher-Iba Arena on December 20. With 13 points, Bryce Thompson was the top scorer. Tyreek Smith chipped in with 12 points.
Kansas won their fifth in a row on December 22 at Allen Fieldhouse, beating the Harvard Crimson 68-54. Jalen Wilson had 21 points to lead the team.
The teams are meeting for the only time this season. Kansas won both matchups between the teams last season, the last of which was a 76-62 triumph at Allen Fieldhouse on February 14, their third straight head-to-head victory.
Ochai Agbaji led the Jayhawks with 20 points and seven rebounds. Avery Anderson III had 15 points in the loss. Anderson III and Thompson, averaging 12.2 and 11.5 points per game, respectively, are leading the Cowboys in scoring this season. Anderson III also has dished 3.3 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Moussa Cisse is grabbing 10.8 rebounds per game.Wilson has supplied much of the Jayhawks’ offense, averaging 21.1 points per game. Wilson also has pulled down 9.0 rebounds per game. Dajuan Harris Jr. has doled out 6.6 assists per game.
Holding foes to only 36.0% from the field, the Cowboys are one of the stingiest FG% defenses in the nation (7th). The Cowboys have struggled in recent visits to Allen Fieldhouse, losing eight of the last 10.
Oklahoma State is 7-3 in the last 10 games with an average margin of +11.2 (72.3-61.1). Kansas has a 9-1 record over the last 10, scoring 77.5 points per game on average while allowing 64.9 (+12.6 margin).
