The No. 14 Indiana Hoosiers (18-7, 9-5 Big 10), one of the nation’s top shooting teams, welcome the Illinois Fighting Illini (17-8, 8-6 Big 10) on Saturday.
Illinois was defeated by the Penn State Nittany Lions 93-81 at Bryce Jordan Center on Tuesday. Terrence Shannon Jr. led the way in the losing effort with 20 points.
The Fighting Illini are fourth in the Big Ten Conference. Indiana won their third in a row in a close one on Saturday at Crisler Center, beating the Michigan Wolverines 62-61. Trayce Jackson-Davis had 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead the team. The Hoosiers dropped to third in the Big Ten Conference.
This marks the last meeting of the season between the teams. After winning the only prior season meeting against Illinois 80-65 at State Farm Center on January 19, Indiana will be seeking a season sweep. Jackson-Davis led the Hoosiers with 35 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.
Shannon Jr. had 26 points in the loss. The Fighting Illini have been led this season by Shannon Jr., who is averaging 17.0 points per game. Meanwhile, Coleman Hawkins is contributing 6.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Jackson-Davis has powered the Hoosiers’ offense, averaging 18.5 points per game.
