The No. 12 Baylor Bears (8-2), one of the NCAA’s top scoring teams, play host to the Northwestern State Demons (8-3) on Tuesday. Northwestern State was dominated by the Rice Owls 110-73 at Tudor Fieldhouse on Saturday.
With 18 points, Demarcus Sharp was the leading scorer in defeat. Jalen Hampton added 12 points and six rebounds. Baylor won their third in a row on Sunday at American Airlines Center, beating the Washington State Cougars 65-59.
Keyonte George had 19 points to lead the team. It’s the only meeting of the season between the teams. Baylor won the only game between the teams last season 104-68 at Ferrell Center in December 2021, their third straight head-to-head victory. James Akinjo led the Bears with 27 points and nine assists.
Carvell Teasett had 18 points in the losing effort. Sharp and Ja’Monta Black, averaging 16.3 and 13.9 points per game, respectively, have led the Demons in scoring this season. Sharp also has dished 4.0 assists per game. Meanwhile, Hampton is grabbing 6.7 rebounds per game.
George (16.0 ppg), Adam Flagler (14.1), and LJ Cryer (13.8) have supplied much of the Bears’ offense. Flagler also has recorded 5.1 assists per game.
Meanwhile, Flo Thamba has averaged 5.2 rebounds per game.With 82.6 points per game, the Bears are one of the most explosive offenses in the nation (21st).
