Florida International is off to a rough start to the season and they will be looking to pull off a massive upset to gain as much momentum as possible with a victory here on Monday night against Miami. They have lost their opening two games of the season and unless they turn things around rather quickly, this is going to be a long year for the Panthers. They have hardly been competitive throughout their first two losses of the season as they suffer double digit losses in each game, and they have yet to have a double digit points per game scorer throughout their first two games of the season either. This could easily end up being another one of those ugly games for Florida international here on Monday night on the road against the Miami Hurricanes unless they play a near perfect game of basketball in this one, as they look for their first victory of the season. 

Miami comes into this game looking to grab a comfortable victory here on Monday night in front of their home crowd and keep the momentum rolling early on in the season. They are off to a pretty solid start this season as they are undefeated through their first two games of the year, and they will be looking for their third consecutive victory of the season here on Monday night. They come into this game ranked inside of the top 15 in the country and they will be hoping to move up a little bit when the initial in-season rankings come out next week. Miami is coming off of a pair of blowout victories over New Jersey Institute of Technology and Central Florida throughout their first two games. I look for them to grab a third consecutive blowout victory here on Monday night against Florida international. As I look for Miami to pick up a comfortable victory and cover the spread in the process here on Monday night at home.

#22 Villanova @ Penn – 7pm ET

The Villanova Wildcats came into the year ranked just inside of the top 25 in the country. As they are currently ranked 22nd in the nation, they will be looking to improve upon that ranking with a string of quality performances throughout the early part of the season. This is a Villanova team that still has a couple of national championships within the last 10 years and they are still a team that could potentially compete for a national championship this season as long as they remain healthy and consistent. They come into this game undefeated through their first two games of the regular season and they will be looking for a solid rival victory here on Monday night on the road against Penn, in the first edition of the Big Five Classic this season. Villanova comes into this game with a pair of blowout victory open up the year, and they will be looking for a third consecutive blowout win here on Monday night. 

Penn comes into this game with the opportunity to get themselves a top 25 upset victory early on in the season and establish some momentum moving forward. This is a rivalry game for these two teams and they will be looking to put their best performance out on the court so far this season against Villanova here on Monday night. They will need to play a pretty efficient and solid game of basketball to pull off the upset against a worthy Villanova team, but we’ve seen in the past that these Ivy League teams can shock people. As they play games like a well oiled machine when the teams are playing basketball. They come into this game with two victories and their first three games of the season and they will be looking to make it three out of four with another quality performance here on Monday night at home. I expect this game to be closer than many people would think, but in the end I still look for Villanova to pull out the victory.

Stetson @ #7 Houston – 8pm ET

The Stetson Hatters come into this game after splitting their first two games of the season. Now they will be looking for a massive momentum boosting victory with a victory here on Monday night on the road against the top 10 ranked Houston team. They will need to play a turnover free, efficient game of basketball here on Monday night on the road if they want to pull off the upset of one of the top teams in the country and get themselves in early season statement victory. They are coming off of a double digit loss to UNLV and they will be looking to bounce back in this game on Monday night against Houston but they will have to play a lot more efficiently and make their shots almost every time down the court and get some necessary stops as well after giving up over 70 points to the Rebels. This will certainly not be an easy game to win but if they find their form and find some consistency throughout the early part of the game, they could keep themselves in it heading down the very final whistle.

The Houston Cougars come into this game looking to keep their hot start to the season going with a quality win and a comfortable victory over Stetson here on Monday night at home. They come into this season ranked inside of the top 10 in the nation, and they have national championship aspirations as long as they can remain healthy and consistent throughout the year. They have already picked up a pair of blowout victories through their first two games of the season, and they will be looking for a third consecutive blowout victory here on Monday night at home. As long as they stick to their game plan and don’t turn the basketball over, they should have a little issue, grabbing a victory here on Monday night against Stetson, and starting off their season with a third consecutive win. They are menaces on the defensive end of the court as they average about 14 steals per game, and if they can maintain that average throughout the season, they will be very successful this year. I expect them to pick up a comfortable victory in this one and cover the spread in the process.

Old Dominion @ #14 Arkansas – 8pm ET

Old Dominion comes into this game, looking to pull off an early season upset and give themselves a momentum boost, heading into the rest of the month of November. They have split their opening two games of the season, and they will be looking for their second victory of the year here on Monday night on the road in Fayetteville against the Arkansas Razorbacks. They will need to find a way to slow down Arkansas and their highflying offense that is averaging about 90 points per game throughout the early part of the regular season. They will also be looking to bounce back from their loss against Ball State and their previous game after dropping a five point game in the Sun Belt Conference versus Mid American Conference challenge earlier last week. They will need to play a pretty efficient game here on Monday night if they want to pull off the upset, and they will have to keep the turnovers to a minimum as well as control the pace of the game and make their shots down the court to beat Arkansas here on Monday night. 

The Arkansas Razorbacks are off to a solid start this season and they will be looking to keep the momentum rolling here on Monday night against Old Dominion. Arkansas was ranked 14th in the country in the initial top 25 rankings and they will be looking to move up those rankings when the first in season set of rankings comes out soon. They have picked up a pair of victories through their first two games of the season, and they will be looking to remain undefeated with a third consecutive victory here on Monday night at home. They are coming off of back-to-back blowout victories to open up the season and they will be looking for a third consecutive blowout victory here on Monday night at home against Old Dominion. As long as they remain consistent on the offensive end of the court, and maintain their 90 points per game average, they are not many teams that beat them this season. I expect them to do just that in this game on Monday night and pick up the victory as well as cover the spread in the process at home.

Xavier @ #3 Purdue – 8:30pm ET

Xavier comes into this game looking for a solid early-season victory over a top three team in the country here on Monday night on the road against Purdue. Xavier is one of those sneaky mid majors that could potentially become a threat to make a deep tournament run as long as they get consistent play out of their roster throughout the regular season. They will be looking for a statement victory early in the year with this game here on Monday night on the road as they look to establish themselves as one of the top 25 teams in the country after being left out of the initial rankings. Xavier comes into this game with a pair of victories, through their first two games of the season, and they will be looking to make it three for three with another quality performance here on Monday night on the road against Purdue. Despite picking up back-to-back blowout wins in their first two games they will need to shoot the basketball more efficiently if they want to get the job done in this one.

Purdue comes into this game looking to grab an early season quality victory that could end up being a solid résumé booster for them later on in the year. A lot of people had this Purdue team pegged to win the national championship last season before they were upset in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. Now  they will be looking to prove the doubters wrong this season as they come back stronger than last year. They have arguably the best player in the country and Zach Edey on the roster, and he will be looking to record a quality performance and help lead Purdue to an early season victory here on Monday night at home. They come into this game, undefeated through their first two games of the season, and they will be looking to further establish their top three ranking in the country with another quality win here on Monday. I expect this to be a close and competitive game, but in the end I do look for Purdue to pick up the victory at home over Xavier.
