Michigan State @ #2 Gonzaga – 6:30PM ET

This is going to be the marquee game of the evening as these two huge college basketball programs get set to square off on the deck of the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln. This game is a part of the Peraton Armed Forces Classic and the first of many high profile matchups we will see this season.

The Michigan State Spartans are one of the blue bloods in the sport of college basketball but they have started this season unranked. They come into this game undefeated after winning their season opener by a score of 73-55 over Northern Arizona. Now they will be looking to pick up a win over the second best team in the country, the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Leading the way for the Spartans is Joey Hauser who scored 18 points in the first game of the year. 

The Gonzaga Bulldogs once again fell short of becoming national champions last season as their one goal continues to elude them. Now they enter this season with another shot as Drew Timme returns as the leading man for the Zags. Gonzaga won their season opener against North Florida by a score of 104-63. This should definitely be one of the best games of this young season, as Michigan State is better than people think. In the end I have Gonzaga getting the win. 

#16 Villanova @ Temple – 7PM ET

This is yet another version of the “Philadelphia Five” as Villanova takes on Temple here on Friday night. Sixteenth ranked Villanova comes into this game undefeated after winning their season opener, while Temple will be looking to pick up their first win of the season.

The Villanova Wildcats opened up their 2022-23 season with a huge win over fellow Philadelphia school La Salle. Now they will be looking to add another win over another Philadelphia school here on Friday when they travel to Temple to take on the Owls. They come into this game ranked as the sixteenth best team in the nation and in their season opener they would go on to win 81-68. Leading the way for them was Caleb Daniels who scored 24 points. 

The Temple Owls come into this game looking to rebound after losing their opening contest of the season. In their first game of the year they lost a 76-73 overtime thriller to Wagner. Damian Dunn led the way in scoring for them with 29 points, and he also led the way in assists with three as well. Unfortunately for the Owls I don’t expect this game to be close at all, as I think the Wildcats will run away with it and cover the spread in the process. 

Charleston @ #1 North Carolina – 7PM ET

Charleston comes into this game after winning their season opener. North Carolina is the number one team in the nation and also comes into this game with a record of 1-0 on the season. Now both of these schools will be looking to grab win number two here on Friday night.

The College of Charleston will certainly have their hands full in this game when they travel to Chapel Hill to play the number one team in the nation. They got their season off on the right foot after winning their season opener by a score of 85-78 over the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. However, things certainly won’t be as simple for them in this game as they are completely outmatched in every area of the game. 

North Carolina comes into this game undefeated after picking up a blowout win in their season opener against the University of North Carolina at Wilmington earlier this week. The game was closer than many would’ve expected as the Tar Heels only won by thirteen points, but the majority of the the top teams in the country had a few issues out of the gate. I look for it to be different in this one. As I look for the Tar Heels to run away with this game. 

Southern @ #17 Arizona – 9PM ET

Southern lost to open up the year and Arizona comes into this game on Friday evening with an undefeated record after they won their season opener. This game is part of the South Western Athletic Conference vs Pacific 12 Conference challenge early on in this season.

Southern opened up their 2022-23 college basketball season with a loss but they are facing a much tougher test in the second game of the season against the nationally ranked Arizona Wildcats. In their first game of the season they failed to pick up a victory over UNLV as they would lose that game by a score of 66-56. Bryson Etienne was their leading scorer with twenty five points. 

The seventeenth ranked Arizona Wildcats come into this game with an undefeated record of 1-0 on the season. In their season opener they picked up a victory against Nicholls in a game that was never close, as the Wildcats raced out to a 117-75 victory. I am expecting more of the same in this one as well, as I look for the Arizona Wildcats to get the win and cover the spread in the process. 

Long Beach State @ #8 UCLA – 11PM ET

Long Beach State and UCLA both come into this game on Friday evening with undefeated records after they both picked up wins to open the year. The Bruins come into this game ranked eighth in the nation, while Long Beach State is unranked. UCLA is nearly a twenty point favorite in this game.

Long Beach State opened up their 2022-23 college basketball season with a win but they are facing a much tougher test in the second game of the season against the nationally ranked UCLA Bruins. In their season opener they faced off with California Baptist and ended up winning the game by a final score of 79-64. Leading the way for them in scoring was Jadon Jones. 

UCLA also opened up their brand new season with a victory over Sacramento State by a score of 76-50. Now they will be looking to get their second win of the season over their second straight opponent from the state of California. Leading the way in scoring for the Bruins in game number one of the season was Jaylen Clark who scored seventeen points. I think UCLA will grab the win in this one and cover the spread.
